A hot dog from Bæjarins Beztu was on my "must do" list in Iceland and I ended up going there three times I loved them so much! I learned my lesson the first time though which is that one is not enough!! For AU$4 and the longish time you have to queue it's totally worth getting a couple. The lines... More

You can't leave Reykjavik without sampling these hotdogs !! You will have to join the queue and ask for"everything" on it but well worth it ! Very centrally located.

This place is small and inexpensive. It cost us 450isk for a hot dog each. Me and my boyfriend couldn't believe how delicious a small hot dog would be! It had crispy onions and two sauces on top which we had no idea what it was but it tastes great!! For a snack throughout the day I would strongly recommend... More

Grabbed a few dogs with the works as we were heading out of town for the airport. Inexpensive by Icelandic standards (think it was about 450 isk per dog). Much better than our American version of the dog with some great toppings.

You want an old fashion Icelandic Hot dog? Ketchup? Mustard? Fresh or fried onions? Remolaði? Search no further :) Even Bill Clinton liked it. But seriously its quick, not that terribly expensive and quite delicious. Its classic Icelandic.

Don't fret over a long line, they have this down to a science and the line moves faster than you would expect. The staff quickly assembles your order- the works, because, why not, and you are on your way. Not really substantial enough for a meal, but very tasty. It never occurred to me to have crunchy fried onions on... More

NOT a fan of hot dogs but this one I went back for more. Looks really plain and small but the crispy onions I think inside and the sauce are so delicious. Found out later that it was lamb and that the place became famous for Bill Clinton's visit but even it weren't for those facts this place is a... More

We were told best hotdog place in Reykjavik... so had to pop along. It was a hotdog that tasted of lamb. Not my usual taste in snacks but had to try it!

Being the top top eat out in Iceland, one of the best hotdog stand in the world, the hotdog was average, in fact the cheap bread and the hotdog itself the best I can give is 1 star. Everyone is going on how good it is and celebs and even Clinton was here, well I don't think it should the... More

Baejarins beztu pylsur (English: The best hot dog in town) often shortened to simply "Baejarins beztu", is a popular hot dog stand in central Reykjavik, Iceland. In August 2006, the British newspaper The Guardian selected Baejarins beztu as the best hot dog stand in Europe.

The majority of Icelanders have eaten at Baejarins beztu. It's downtown near the harbor and has been open since 1937. Foreign visitors are often brought to the stand to introduce them to the hot dogs there, which are often called "the Icelandic national food." Among famous people who have eaten at Baejarins beztu are Bill Clinton, former president of the United States, and James Hetfield, vocalist of the popular heavy metal band Metallica.

A hot dog condiments include ketchup, sweet mustard, fried onion, raw onion and remoladi, a mayonnaise-based sauce with sweet relish. Hot dogs are often ordered with "the works," i.E., All condiments, or in Icelandic "eina med ollu".
