Well worth the line up. It goes really quickly and you should plan on ordering more than one. Yummy hot dog and a very fun experience to eat outdoors at the picnic table. Fun chatting with people lined up and a t the tables too.

Apparently a famous hotdog stand but it tasted quite like an ordinary hotdog. The grilled onions and raw onion mix adds a nice touch. Good to eat in the cold weather. No need to specially make a trip down if you're short of time.

Being a food critic, I love to explore food places dubbed "the best of blah blah blah" as I want to assess them myself. First things first, yes I would still rate them excellent. Honestly I would not say that they are the best hotdogs...More

Heard so much about this hotdog. It was simple street fare, quite tasty. The interesting thing is there's fried onions sprinkled on it. The hot dog has lamb in it so it may not suit everyone's taste.

Was it amazing...maybe not. But it was tasty and a hot dog. Couldn't tell it was lamb. Would totally recommend at least the mustard and crunchy fried onions. Just needed a beer to wash it down!

Beware of The Hot Dog Thieves!!! Baejarins Beztu Pylsur is a walk up on the street hot dog stand. There is not much to the place just a couple of fun guys working behind the counter, a few picnic table out front of the place...More

I lived in Reykjavik for a few years and was a regular customer. Living abroad now, having a hot dog at Bæjarins Bestu is a real treat for me when I visit. Amazing.

At least this hot dog stand is very popular, always a line of customer. Simple serving -only one thing -sausage with bread -only outside, tasty but nothing special... In my opinion the should try to broaden the variety of dogs...

Step right up to the window and order your hot dog, with which you can enjoy a soda too. Wonderful flavor, excellent mustard (available in markets) and don't forget the crunchy onions. A must stop when you are in Reykjavik!

I read some of the reviews that said the quality has gone down or that they weren't that great. Don't listen and GO! No, RUN there! For $6.50 American dollars I got a hot dog with everything (try it this way, you won't be disappointed)...More

I don't know. Given its hot dogs, I'd assume the worst.

Baejarins beztu pylsur (English: The best hot dog in town) often shortened to simply "Baejarins beztu", is a popular hot dog stand in central Reykjavik, Iceland. In August 2006, the British newspaper The Guardian selected Baejarins beztu as the best hot dog stand in Europe. The majority of Icelanders have eaten at Baejarins beztu. It's downtown near the harbor and has been open since 1937. Foreign visitors are often brought to the stand to introduce them to the hot dogs there, which are often called "the Icelandic national food." Among famous people who have eaten at Baejarins beztu are Bill Clinton, former president of the United States, and James Hetfield, vocalist of the popular heavy metal band Metallica. A hot dog condiments include ketchup, sweet mustard, fried onion, raw onion and remoladi, a mayonnaise-based sauce with sweet relish. Hot dogs are often ordered with "the works," i.E., All condiments, or in Icelandic "eina med ollu".
