We had a lovely meal, thoughtfully served. Having traveled extensively in India, I can say this cuisine was pretty legitimate, albeit probably slightly tailored for a local audience. Great flavors, well prepared. Very nice atmosphere / ambiance. If you're looking for something that is very good and less appallingly expensive than other nice dinner spots in town, definitely head here.... More

Seriously It was the nicest also the most expensive meal we ate. My husband had a wrack of spiced lamb and I had a curry and... More

While exploring Reykjavik on foot after 9 hours of traveling, we found ourselves getting hungry, and then we stumbled upon Ghandi. We had been eating traditional European food for about 1.5 weeks, so we decided to spice it up and try something different. Ghandi did not disappoint: the lentil soup was amazing, the lamb saag was cooked just right, and... More

We only tried vegeterian. The dal was really good. Curries were okayish, esp chana and palak paneer. Recommend paneer tikka masala. Indian style Seafood seemed to be their speciality although we didn't try it. Superb ambience with cozy seating, low ceilings and rustic Indian setup. Located in heart of downtown. Extremely friendly and efficient staff.

This restaurant is located very centrally, the service was good and quite friendly although at the time we went (18:30) they were no other customers and the atmosphere wasn't amazing. We had poppadums, butter chicken, lamb saag, rice and garlic naans with beers and soft drinks. The butter chicken was very good and the lamb was not bad. The garlic... More

My friend who had traveled to Iceland recently told me I shouldn't leave without going to Gandhi. He knows how hesitant I am about eating Indian food outside of my mom's home cooked delishness. He hooked my by telling me that it was one of the best Indian meals he had ever had. I was sold! So before we left... More

Being Indian and having tried Austur Indian and Gandhi both, can safely say that if you crave traditional Indian ( with predominant south Indian flavours) then Gandhi is the place to go. The ambience isn't as nice but not as fancy as the other place but the simple yet identifiable and enjoyable food makes it a winner.

I live very close to this place and also Austurlanda Hraðlestin. While Hraðlestin is nice for a very casual dinner (you order at the counter and your meal is brought to you -- it's nearly like eating at a fast food joint), Gandhi is much better for romantic dinners and we have enjoyed a few birthday and anniversary dinners here.... Chef Arun made our day with some excellent food at the end of a tiring day touring around Reykjavik. The flavors of Dal Tadka came out so well, we could not look beyond it to anything else on the menu :) Sunny Bunny loved the Paneer Tikka and Naan was good as well. Definitely on the costlier side, but we... More
