Awesome matre d accommodated us quickly when the place was packed and we didn't know we needed reservations. The feasts were great selections, especially the puffin and whale. Thanks for a great dinner.

While in Reykjavik to celebrate a milestone wedding anniversary, we booked two restaurants in advance, Grillmarket (excellent) and Dill (not so excellent, see my review). Sushi Samba was a last minute addition, and were we happy about it. Everything about it was wonderful. For starters, they have an excellent cocktail menu. I had a martini they call "Absolutely Amazing" and... More

We enjoyed this restaurant so much we returned the next day. The combination of sushi and South American food makes for a fascinating mean experience. The choice of beers and wines was also superb and the service was simply excellent. The lobster tempura was simply delicious and combined with any of their other courses beautifully.

Dropped in without reservation in midweek. Almost walked passed the place, looked closed but very open when we entered. Great mood inside with full restaurant and samba tones. Got a place with the sushibar on stools, not good seats but we had a great meal. Nice, fast and casual service. Good cocktails from the bar.

Being a veggie was pleasantly surprised that even in Reykjavik they had a few varieties of veg food. Went for dinner and enjoyed the fusion of Japanese & S.American food. The atmosphere is more like a pub cum restaurant and it's quite nice. Book in advance as it was full when we went and is on most days specially in... More

Fun experience, excellent food and service. Turf and surf roll was our favorite along with lobster tempura. Bread and basil aioli was an added bonus.

We couldn't imagine what we were going to get in this place. Sushi Samba? But they pulled it off -- the most wonderful sushi, fresh and hearty -- with a Latin twist. I had the raw beef and lobster sushi that contained something a little sweetly crunchy plus a saucy sauce that made it my favorite sushi ever. My fellow... More

By far the sushi I have ever tasted. Me and my friends ordered a couple of dishes to share and we were not turned down by any of them. A good tip, order the dessert tasting plate.

Open at the end of 2011 and a hot favorite on the Reykjavik restaurant scene, Sushi Social - samba & grill offers a deliciously unique take on homegrown ingredients, fusing Iceland's freshest flavors with Japanese and South American influences. The menu offers a great selection, tempting smaller courses, traditional and "Juicy- Sushi" , amazing steaks and sweet desserts. If you can't decide what to go for, the Icelandic feast is a perfect solution - six courses form an incredible taste experience that includes the national aperitif 'Brennivin' and an Icelandic Skyr panna cotta for dessert. Fabulous chili mojitos and a gorgeously eclectic interior are the icing on the cake at Sushi Social. Hand- carved Brazilian curios and some 50 pretty Japanese birdcages complement the contemporary lines and gentle feel of the place.
