Looking for a less expensive place for a quick breakfast or some bread for cheese & meat, this is the place. Iceland's oldest bakery is just that for a reason, consistent quality products. I got the Hjónabandssæla which is Icelandic Happy Marriage cake. Yea I...More

I stumbled across the oldest bakery in Reykjavik by accident and decided to have a look. This is not a high end patisserie but a traditional scandinavian balery with an assortment of wienerbrod, marzipan delights and an intersting take on floertines. The bread looked sensational...More

I love breads and pastry. Perhaps other bakeries make it just the same way or even better but this is still my favourite bakery in Iceland. The current location is the third one I remember.

Stopped in for breakfast and there was so much to choose from it was difficult! The pastry was very good. It's small on the inside but there is window seating.

We stopped by Bernhoftsbakari to pick up a variety of pastries to bring to a lunch. Everything we tried was great, but the rum balls and traditional square pastries with raspberry filling were standouts.

We went this weekend. Very good for a quick takeaway breakfast. Great for breakfast on the road. Lovely sandwiches to take some lunch. Really nice tea and coffee. Beautifully pastries.

we got some sandwiches made up - but you could buy the bread and fillings and do your own. The cakes were great - and huge!

We stayed at a place down the road, so it was nice and close for me to get some breakfast for the entire family. The selection was good, the prices were typical and the pastries itself tasted very good.

We stayed across the road from this bakery, and went in there every day for 4 days. Everything we tried was delicious - particularly the ham and cheese croissants. Coffee was an auto machine and very ordinary. But the funniest thing was the consistently grumpy...More
