I tried eating at new places each time it was time to eat, I really enjoyed Salka Valka and it was right in the middle of everything in Reykjavik. I tried a fish casserole dish and the Icelandic bread, would definitely recommend both!
A friend of mine suggested me this restaurant and it was fully right! The place is very warm and comfortable and the staff really friendly and gentle. I wanted to eat fish and I have been fully satisfied... I have particularly appreciated the marinated herrings....Hope to come to this place soon.More
We happened on Salka Valka by chance and ate the fish of the day (cod) and the fish stew (plokkifiskur). The cod was absolutely perfect - moist and delicate in flavour and the fish stew is rightly described as the best in Iceland (praise indeed!)....The atmosphere is friendly and the people welcoming.
The only fault we can find (a minor thing) is that the size of the portions were very large. This is true in many restaurants in Iceland, though, which would benefit by not over-facing diners.More
The fish stew was very good and the soup as well. Definites value for money. The rhubarb dessert was slightly low on taste, but not bad at all. Overall great and the best food to the price we had in iceland.
We had the best fresh fish dish, wonderful herb sauces for the fish! Just walking into the place surrounds you with delicious scents, promising a culinary experience! And the ladies who cooked and served the dishes were very nice and enthusiastic. A real pleasure.
We arrived without a reservation but they squeezed us in promptly. Lots of fish on the menu - I had fish of the day with sweet potato fries and it was very fresh. Limited selection of beers. The others in the party tried the plukfisk...which they said was great - with bearnaise - popular sauce here. The service was reasonably quick and very friendly. We had the happy marriage cake which I thought very dry, but maybe that's how it is supposed to be.More
We had fish & chips, fish of the day and the fish pie on rye bread. All delicious!! The sauces were so nice and made it extra special. Also really liked the sweet potato with the fish of the day. Lovely atmosphere too with the...giant map of the world as a back drop. Free tap water is always good!!More
This restaurant is a really cozy place. The decoration of the place is really cool and gives it a nice vibe. The staff is very nice and they explain you the menu. It's also nice to have a chat with them and get some travel...tips. The fish menus are really amazing.More
