I think we came to this restaurant, like most people, because of their reputation. We heard that it was good, traditional Icelandic food, with an emphasis on trying some of the weird stuff that you hear about people eating in Iceland: whale, puffin, horse and the like. Here's the problem: there is no way to try everything without committing to... More

Great authentic Icelandic dinner. Whale, salmon and seafood soup. Great service. Everything was cooked to perfection. Definitely a do again.

We had a lovely supper here. From the reception to the servers, we had nothing but professional, friendly service. This restaurant serves traditional Icelandic fare, so be prepared for some interesting choices! We started with smoked puffin and whale sashimi. Both were very tender and seasoned to complement the meat. We moved on to our entrees, guillemot for my wife... More

I presume the people who gave the good reviews did not order the Seafood Gratin. The most unappealing barely warm congealed offering was served on an extremely hot plate accompanied by school dinner style vegetables (a few carrots, some boiled potatoes and a bit of limp lettuce). I asked for my food to be made hotter - when it arrived... More

We went here on a recommendation from our tour guide. Average meal at best. So many other great places. Don't waste your time.

I went with my wife for Saturday dinner to this restaurant which was highly recommended by friends who frequent Iceland often and which we learned is one of the oldest restaurants in Iceland owned and operated by three generations. The menu is pretty established and seldom (if ever) changes and reflects classic Iceland fine cuisine. I had the smoked puffin... More

This is a longstanding, charming neighborhood seafood-centric restaurant. We tried several different kinds of fish, all of which were super fresh and delicious. Reservations are the best way to go, for although we were able to walk in early on a Monday evening, the restaurant was full later that same evening. Yes, it's a bit pricey (welcome to Iceland!) but... More

The food was wonderful and the staff very friendly. The restaurant only seats 44 so reservations are a must. The tables are quite small but by European standards are probably normal. We were seated at a tiny table next to a radiator, which was very hot and uncomfortable but the staff was able to move us to a more comfortable... More

Their service was to par but the vibe they gave off was not hospitable and warming whatsoever. We wanted to try Iceland's national dishes including the fermented shark, whale, and puffin. Food was good but service could be better.

My wife and I visited 3 Frakkar as our 'treat' meal. We wanted to eat what is seen as traditional Icelandic food and we were not disappointed. For start, we shared smoked puffin. It was plated beautifully and the mustard dressing really complimented the puffin. For mains we had whale - which was meaty and filling and guillemot - which... More
