We went to eat casually, as we were walking around the area... the place has traditional food and is not very large, so we had to wait about 15 minutes for a table... the nice staff and waiting times, correct. The previous one is the typical Icelandic one... two main ones and an extra side dish cost us about 85 euros... We ordered the Arctic trout and the lamb... both very rich, although in a fair amount... they came with salad/vegetables and some potatoes, but we decided to order an extra serving of sweet potato that was very good. Good place to eat in Vik.

We came here for dinner while staying near Vik. You should definitely book a table in advance as most restaurants in Vik get fully pretty quickly. The restaurant is pretty casual and the servers were quite friendly and helpful in explaining the food they had. I had the arctic char which was very delicious. I would recommend coming here.

Halldórskaffi was the ideal place to refuel after a day trip along the South Coast of Iceland. Conveniently located next to Vik's Visitor Center, the cafe is inviting and clean. The server greeted us warmly and encouraged us to take our time as we considered our options. The menu offers Icelandic specials such as Artic Char and a Lamb Sandwich, both of which were exceptional. The potatoes-french fries and small roasted-served with those meals were equally fabulous. We started with a small pizza as an appetizer; who knew Icelandic pizza would be so flavorful and come with a crust that was seasoned and cooked to perfection? Our third course, slices of layered chocolate and apple crumb cake, were exceptional. Halldórskaffi will recharge you for the return trip north or for your continued journey
along the Ring Road.

I have had pizza there a few times before and it was great so this time I decided to try the burger which was terrible. It is possibly the worst one I have had. The bun was stale and felt like it had been sitting out for a long time, Meat lacked all flavor or seasoning, there was little to no garlic sauce which made the burger very dry and lastly, the mushrooms were raw! They were not cooked, just sliced raw mushrooms. My friend got a different burger and she was as disappointed, bun was stale, no sauce or flavor. One of us asked for ketchup and we got it in packets like you get at a gas station or a fast food restaurant.
Sadly I won't be going there again.

Halldorskaffi has many options (Specialties, Burgers, Vegetarian, and Pizza) on their menu! My husband chose Arctic Char with Icelandic salad and potatoes. He said that it was excellent. My son and I chose their Icelandic Lamb Sandwich with french fries. While it was delicious, the bread fell apart and we ended up eating it with our forks and knives. We tried two of their desserts and they were delicious.
Service was somewhat slow since there were only two servers. But, our server was very pleasant and friendly.
During our week-long adventure, this was our second favorite restaurant.

Halldórskaffi - Restaurant in Vik
We were supposed to leave Vik to drive back to the capital in the morning, but there was a big storm during the night and it kept going into the morning. The roads were closed since 3 am, and they opened at around one in the afternoon. We decided to wait and have lunch where we had dinner the night before because we loved it so much, here at Halldórskaffi.
Delicious food and the attention was truly great! The best fish I had in my life and the best apple pie, it was insanely delicious. Vikings know how to cook very well!

We hosted our Wedding Adventure Welcome Dinner at Halldórs Kaffi in early September. We had approximately 32 people at the dinner and the staff was very accommodating to our requests and needs. There was a little confusion when we first arrived, but it was quickly sorted out and we had a fabulous event. The food was great and luckily we had refrigerators and microwaves in our rooms as the quantity exceeded expectations so some guests had to take the food home for snacks.
All of the guests had favorable feedback as to the quality of the food. I had the prawns and my husband had the lamb.

Exhausted and somewhat stinky from horse riding, we were welcomed into the cozy restaurant for a delicious dinner. We had the artic char and the lamb. Both were very tasty and the little mushroom souffle side that came with the lamb was heavenly. Then dessert with meringue, mint, chocolate and cream was just the perfect end to the dinner.

This was the meal our family was the probably the least excited about going into it. The reviews were consistently mediocre for this place, but we were pleasantly surprised. However, the trout was excellent, and the burgers were quite good, that came with tasty sweet potato fries. the prices would be considered pretty high in U.S., but weren't crazy for Iceland (about $30 for a large portion of trout.) The atmosphere was interesting as it was a little rustic, and the restaurant played good pop music in the background, that wasn't too loud. The service was good. The menu options are pretty limited, as there's basically only pizza, burgers, trout, and lamb, but they do a good job with what they offer.

I had the lamb sandwich and the apple pie. The restaurant was super busy- obviously the summer is high season. I was seated immediately but a few minutes later the restaurant was entirely full and wait times were up to 45 minutes. The staff were overwhelmed and didn’t really have time to linger other than to drop your food or napkin and leave immediately. The food is ok- it wasn’t the best meal I had: I don’t recommend the sandwich or the pie or ice cream. It isn’t bad, just not the best I had in Iceland.

My husband and I had dinner one evening, excellent food. We returned this evening for a cake and a coffee and although they had cleaned the coffee machine, the very kind Italian girl who works there prepared it for us anyway. The amazing apple pie. Highly recommended place.

It was quiet around 1800 when we walked in but seemingly it gets very busy in normal years – there are not many restaurants in Vik. Hallsdorfcaffi do not accept reservations, so be prepared to wait for a table to become available. We both had pizza. Both were OK but they were nothing special. Service was the same - OK but nothing special

The food was extremely good, and the waitress was so happy, helpful and polite. The lights in the windows made the place so cosy and delightful. I always stop at Halldórkaffi when I’m driving through the town because I get the best service there, the waitresses always have a smile on them and the food itself is always good.

We were seated in a museum lobby that is attached to the restaurant because the actual restaurant was full, the waitress said that we would be seated inside the restaurant when a table would be free. Two parties arrived after us and both of those parties got seats inside the restaurant before us and we ended up eating in a museum lobby. The pizza was not that great. Do not recommend this place.

This is a good choice for a simple meal. The interior is pretty basic, in a rustic way. Service was a bit hit or miss, depending on which server you got. But the food was solid and tasty - we particularly recommend the lamb sandwiches.
