We had hoped to go to Placcid for dinner because we read it was family friendly, but it was closed. We read Narfeyrarstota was more of a fancy or romantic place and were a little worried about taking kids, but it was far from being a problem as lots of families arrived after us. The food is excellent, I had... More

We crossed the street to this place (in an old house) from our hostel to get seafood for us, and a burger for our son. The staff was very friendly, and we were there early enough that it wasn't crowded. I had fresh Mussels, my wife had a wonderful seafood pasta, and our son had a fancy "Mafioso Burger". A... More

We had high hopes for this place. It is very cozy and cute. They do serve bread with different salts, which was tastey. My husband had the football player burger which was very tasty. I had the fried Cod and chips and we both were disappointed in it. It was mushy and tasted like the Cod was maybe boiled first... More

We came here after a long day of traveling and it was delicious. We both ended up getting the lamb goulash which was very good although my travel partner found the serving to be a bit small for his appetite. The best thing by far was the homemade bread served with garlic butter and fresh local sea salt. In recounting... More

We had two lovely meals here, given the limited options for eating out during off season! My partner had the fish soup, which apparently was the best he's ever eaten. I had seafood pasta which was delicious. The second night we ate burgers to save on costs, and those were lovely (but messy). The desserts are delicious - order the... More

Wow! Our meal was absolutely splendid - from the perfect bread and butter to the delicious seafood spaghetti. The setting was cozy and comfortable and the service was excellent. The prices also didn't break the bank like some of these specialty Icelandic spots. Narfeyrarstofa really prides itself on fresh, local ingredients and it definitely shows. This is a must stop... Nice little restaurant with very good food. I had the bernaise-burger and the wife the seafood pasta. Both lovely. Everything comes from local farmers and the harbour. Highly recommended. Gsmith

We wanted to walk to dinner from our cottage and expected to eat local fish but not to find such an amazing place. Our party of 6 with infant did not have space but a group of 3 moved so they could put tables together for us. Such thoughtfulness. The garlic bread and salt starter was just the thing after... While in Iceland we cooked a lot of our own meals but went to Narfeyrarstofa for one our out nights out. It's a fun and quaint house with fresh seafood and a cozy atmosphere. Everyone in our group loved it. Service wan't top notch, but we weren't in a rush. I can see how it could be hit or miss... More

Description
Narfeyrarstofa restaurant and café is the oldest operating restaurant in Stykkishólmur. It’s a family business and is open all year round.

Narfeyrarstofa’s menu features inventive dishes served artfully in the beautiful surroundings of the restaurant, where utterly charming views from the premises bring life to the atmosphere. There is a strong emphasis on creativity in the kitchen, and it is safe to say that craftsmanship is held in high regard, as the ingredients are of the finest quality and sourced locally wherever possible.

Narfeyrarstofa’s chefs prepare all ingredients from scratch, and the kitchen makes use of a powerful meat processor as local meat is prepared in different ways for the various dishes on the menu. From the restaurant there are views over Breiðafjörður bay’s “natural pantry”. Ingredients from there are on the table every day, exceptionally fresh. Blue mussels from Breiðafjörður are always on offer when in season.

The menu also has a selection of hamburgers, proclaimed to be “the real deal”, “juicy” and “even better than búllaburgers” by our guests, who come back for them again and again! Our wine menu is unusually diverse and features specially selected wines of various types.

The restaurant is in a two-storey house built in 1906 in the heart of Stykkishólmur, by the old church that towers over Aðalgata. There is room for 70 people indoors, and it’s also possible to sit outside when the weather’s nice. The atmosphere at Narfeyrarstofa is warm and welcoming, and the staff and the owners do everything they can to provide outstanding service to their guests.
