The waiter was not nice and very unpolite, every time we ordered something he was even more unfriendly. The beer was good and the food also good. There were many locals having lunch there but there is also a touristic place because it is near Schönbrun. I would recommend it if the waiter was not there, the local is very... More

This place is just so Austrian, perfectly located next tô Schönbrunn and has great prices. Since i am a great Fan if Tafelspitz, I can strongly recommend their Tafelspitz. Prices are for the type of location very moderate and I would regard it as my favorite place tô it Tafelspitz in this área. It is lange and hosts great around... More

also haven't been there for a while, but was meeting friends for a good night out with Austrian cuisine. One colleague had the steak 400gr - plenty and tasty one colleague had the salad with shrimps, despite not on the menue (only a picture of it), nothing much you can do wrong on cow's primary food, the shrimps were o.k.... Yes, everything they tell you about the ribs at Brandauers is true. They're good and they're seemingly endless - yes, the portions are for those with a healthy appetite. The service is a bit slow even when they don't seem to be overcrowded, but hey! that's more time for you to enjoy the (really good) beer.

I visited with my son and his girlfriend. The restaurant is out the back, and we were surprised by the size of it. Wooden floorboards and had almost a Wild West feel about it. We had the Ribs and Meat skewers. 2 meals between 3 was perfect. They are BIG meals. Of course we had wheat beef also. The waiter... More

Ok so I will be honest here and explain why I rated this 5* although it really is a 4*. I am a returning customer, every time I visit Vienna I eat here at least once. It basically comes down on how you feel about pork ribs. This place serves the absolute best, tastiest, juiciest spare ribs you will ever... More

A big restaurant focused mainly on traditional cuisine. For Vienna, prices are reasonable. Service and meals are good, but do not expect a four-star experience. The hall itself is very spacious (former dance house), but it can get busy during meal times so you might want to reserve ahead. When full, the AC was not efficient enough, so we smelled... More

Staying in Hietzing

Neighbourhood Profile
Hietzing
Vienna’s 13th district has always been in the shadow of Schönbrunn Palace and its gardens, but has interesting hidden gems waiting to be discovered. Allow half a day for the imposing Habsburg residence and the gardens with Gloriette belvedere. Reserve the other half to discover the secret charms of this posh residential neighbourhood. Sneak out of the gardens at Hietzinger Tor (Hietzing Gate) and head down Hietzinger Hauptstrasse for Kaiserpavillon (Emperor’s pavilion), an Art Nouveau gem right on top of U4’s metro railtracks. At local institutions Café Dommayer and restaurant Plachutta you can mingle with residents, their families and friends. Dommayer has risen to fame since waltz king Johann Strauss and his orchestra performed there regularly. If you want to go beyond private villa gazing visit Klimtvilla and Hermesvilla. Art Nouveau genius Gustav Klimt had his last studio in a now beautifully renovated villa, which is open during spring and summer. Hermesvilla at Lainzer Tiergarten animal enclosure and nature park is a must for all romantics and fans of Empress Sissi.
