Although the restaurant is located away from the city and about 15 minutes walk from ottakringer station, you will be rewarded with very good food and really good service. It's the only time we willingly gave the 10% service charge. The restaurant has no English menu but the waiter patiently translated each item on the menu. Excellent pumpkin soup and... More

We had a small family reunion (12 people) here, it was a fortuitous choice. The atmosphere and decor are very informal (traditional suburban Viennese!), service is prompt and knowledgeable, prices more than fair. Parking is a problem, one has to drive around the neighbouring streets and hope to snag a space. Best to carpool! The dishes are traditional Viennese --... More

They have just done the restaurant up so everything is brand new and great! The menu wasn't in English but the waiter was very helpful with the translations and they had great veggie meals. If you want to get away from the centre of town for a traditional meal this is the place to go!

We stopped at this place after reading some of the other TripAdvisor comments and, boy, am I glad we did. It is off the beaten path, but well worth the cab ride or 15-minute walk from the U-bahn. My son and I both had the wiener schnitzel, and I must say that it is the best I've ever had. The... More

We booked online for a same day reservation that didn't go through but they worked us in nonetheless. The men had traditional Austrian food and I had the salmon - both were exquisite!!

Not only did we finally get great punctual service, an amazing meal, but they sold us to-go wine for $5 when the stores were all closed!

Very good traditional restaurant, located in 16-17 district, far away from the center but close to the Vienna's hills and wineries. As goose season started this week, we said to try it here and we were not disapointed; also exceptional red cabbage to go with the meat

We found this little gem from reviews off trip advisor. We stayed out of the city centre in Vienna due to the price. This restaurant was close but so good that we went for dinner 3 nights in a row there. The ribs are very good - you get 2 racks for 14€. Also had the goulash and schnitzel .... More

Typical austrian/international food, well-cooked and well-served. Fair pricing. The Biergarten was very nice on a summer evening. Our portions were pretty large, what we did not manage to eat we got as takeout (backhendl and spareribs).

Staying in Ottakring

Neighbourhood Profile
The production site of popular Ottakringer beer brews up an exciting mix of working and middle class suburbs, Balkanese immigrant lifestyles, and lush patches of hilly woodland. The recently gentrified area around Yppenplatz and Brunnenmarkt boasts hip cafés and bars next to South East European delicacies at Brunnenmarkt street market. The dynamics of Ottakring become most apparent at its vibrant high street Ottakringer Strasse. At the top end you can feast on wine and local food in Austria’s oldest wine tavern 10er Marie. The wines are from the tavern’s own urban vineyards. Before you head upwards, make sure you pay a visit to the historic courtyards between Lerchenfelder Gürtel and Hippgasse. When locals visit Ottakring’s hilly green outskirts on the weekends they either climb up 31 meters of Jubiläumswarte viewing tower on Gallitzinberg, have a succulent Wiener Schnitzel at Villa Aurora, or reward their hiking exertions around Wilhelminenberg with a drink and a view from Wilhelminenberg Palace (now a hotel and restaurant).
