If you're looking for a typical Viennese cuisine, here you are! The food is delicious, the staff totally friendly! Don't miss the hazelnuts shots :)

Surprisingly good food in an of the beaten track location. Not fancy but very well made food. Would not have entered without recommendation but will now certainly be back next time in Vienna. Well done!

if you are looking for good, traditional viennese food without bells and whistles - this is a place to go. weekdays lunchtime it is quite full and you need to book - you will be out of there in 30 to 40 minutes because the menu is served in a rush. nevertheless tasty and fresh. the interior may be referred... Was there for a dinner. I could recommend the carpacio although the Wienner chicken steak was not at its best. It is a restaurant with a great vibe since the interior is quite old but very charming.

There is really no shortage of good restaurants in Vienna. This one offers all of the local favorites at fair prices. The atmosphere is comfortable, "gemuetlich" in German. Although there may be tourists, I would expect mostly locals since it is slightly off the beaten track. One highlight is that it is near an Apartment where Falco lived when he... More

Reading the reviews and seeing it was no. 1 rated in Vienna, I decided I had to try the restuarant on my 2 night whistlestop visit. After doing a recce run after arriving to make the booking, I returned 3 hrs later for my 8.30 meal. All good so far and every one was very friendly. Shown to my table... More

This is the first restaurant we tried when in Vienna and perhaps it was the best. Their Viennese Schnitzel is excellent and a have a great variety of authentic startes and main courses

Have eaten twice in this restaurant, and both times food and service were good. Would recommend booking as seemed to get busy as the evening passed!

Very disappointing, the classical menu does not offer much and the seasonal menu is not translated in English. Because I can read some German i noticed it and asked questions. The service is not friendly and everyone seems in a hurry to get clients in and out.

Zum Alten Fassl is a great favourite of ours. Vienna has much to offer, but over the 30 years I've been living here many of the old traditional "Gsthäuser" have sadly disappeared. This cosy traditional eatery has changed very little over the years, and it's almost worth a visit for the decor and atmosphere alone! The food is excellent, and... More

Staying in Margareten

Neighbourhood Profile
This former working class district blends hip eateries and avant-garde cinema with a time travel into 1950s Vienna. Feel the district’s pulse at Margaretenhof and Schlossquadrat. 19th-century Margaretenhof is a local icon, yet has very non-Viennese architecture with its brick structure and cast-iron verandas. The nearby urban Renaissance castle of Schlossquadrat houses several restaurants. In the summer you can sit in its romantic shady courtyard over Schnitzel and Kracherl (traditional fizzy syrup). Siebenbrunnenplatz and its surrounding shops and grocery stores have remained virtually unchanged in the past 60 years: taking a walk there is like stepping into a 1950s film set. Speaking of movies, head to avant-garde cinema Filmcasino in the evening. It often stages foreign language cult films.
