We had wanted a traditional dinner for our first meal in Vienna, and given where we were staying, this was going to be our best option (our research indicated the food and drink was on point, and it definitely didn't disappoint). Unfortunately, we were late arriving in Vienna, so we made it to the restaurant just before the kitchen was... More

The restaurant is charming. Old Viennese feeling and decor. Schubert and Nestroy, all previous patrons have pictures on the wall. The food is also traditional Vienna with seasonal adjustments. The dishes are fine/good but not refined. But that is not what this restaurant is all about. The service was superior.

We loved the classic Austrian food in this quaint venue, just what we expected. Potato salad and sauerkraut sides were particularly good.

A friend who lives in Vienna has taken us here as it is his favourite restaurant. Very understated and unpretentious, with superb food! Service was also very friendly, accommodating and quick! We came back on our last day before heading to the airport as it was that good! Their schnitzel is second to none, crispy on the outside and beautifully... More

We came with a large family group. Everybody ordered different things. Uncle Sebastian ordered a salmon tartare which was out of this world. My husband ordered a schnitzel which was crispy and big. Heini had a beef tartare. I ordered pork medallions with a mushroom sauce and was so happy with my food. Truly recommend this place. They have an... More

There is no lack of good restaurants in Vienna. The building was originally built in the 1540's and the first restaurant opened over 200 years ago. It was regularly visited by the Composer Schubert. This is probably reason enough to visit already. The food is very good. If you enjoy raw beef tartare (13.50€) then you should try it here.... More

Looking for regional Austrian food with some specials such as lung, kidneys or calf brain? Then this is your place. They also have more mainstream dishes. Good selection of beer and wine.

Neighbourhood Profile
Inner City
In Vienna's best-known district, pedestrian boulevards Kärntner Strasse and Graben connect you with landmarks such as the Wiener Staatsoper (Vienna State Opera), Vienna’s iconic Stephansdom (St. Stephen’s Cathedral) and the vast compound of Hofburg, the Habsburgs’ former Imperial Palace. Peek down side streets such as Annagasse and Weihburggasse, and Graben’s Seilergasse and Habsburggasse, to get a feel for the centre. The Imperial Apartments and the refreshingly demystifying Sissi Museum are must-dos at Hofburg. Spacious squares such as Am Hof and Freyung often host beautiful seasonal and antiques markets.
