Very nice meal. We got there early on a very cold weeknight and while we dined the restaurant started to fill with locals who seemed familiar with the staff - a good sign that was borne out in the great food. Fantastic escargot, by the way!

We ate here the first night we were in Vienna, very good food, good service, nice selection of wine and beer. Would come again and recommend to my family and friends. Not use to all the smoking coming from Canada.

You cannot really go wrong here, great opportunity to try something new. Salads all freshly made and tasty. Endless Schnitzel in many variations again in excellent quality. Good Austrian wine list, beer... More

Enjoying first meal in Vienna at this delicious restaurant. We'll worth the visit in 5th district. Had schnitzel and delicious mixed summer salad with beer and dessert al fresco.

Seeking pout a true Austrian restaurant for dinner, the Zum Stoger was recommended, situated in a quiet residential area it is worth finding as it met all our criteria. It is a traditional Viennese establishment and as you sit enjoying the ambiance, you can imagine the Bohemian societies there whilst listening to the music of Moraz's The menu has an... More

Great "little" restaurant( you may need to reserve) , very good menu , excellent service. Good wine list. In district 5, 300 from metro PILGRIMSTRASS , 3 stops from the city center. Very worth going out of the city center to eat here, good locwl shops and some antiques.

We had an enjoyable meal at Zum Stoger, it was recommended by the restaurant that we were originally wanting to go to when they had no available reservations. The restaurant is decorated in a typical Austrian style and service typical Austrian food and beer. The food was good and the beer was cold and hydrating. The service was quick and... More

Staying in Margareten

Neighbourhood Profile
This former working class district blends hip eateries and avant-garde cinema with a time travel into 1950s Vienna. Feel the district’s pulse at Margaretenhof and Schlossquadrat. 19th-century Margaretenhof is a local icon, yet has very non-Viennese architecture with its brick structure and cast-iron verandas. The nearby urban Renaissance castle of Schlossquadrat houses several restaurants. In the summer you can sit in its romantic shady courtyard over Schnitzel and Kracherl (traditional fizzy syrup). Siebenbrunnenplatz and its surrounding shops and grocery stores have remained virtually unchanged in the past 60 years: taking a walk there is like stepping into a 1950s film set. Speaking of movies, head to avant-garde cinema Filmcasino in the evening. It often stages foreign language cult films.
