Cafe Eiles is a beautiful old world cafe that has the best tasting coffee I have ever had in my life. I had breakfast with my wife and it was just perfect. Prices are very reasonable and great quality. Take you time, relax and just enjoy.

portions and prices are great. Service was friendly (we spoke German so it may have helped but the waiter could also speak English). I had the beef Tafelspitz that was fine but not well seasoned (not sure whether it should be like that though). Sides of mustard and apple puree were available and did a good job at adding flavor... We were in a hotel close by. After the marathon, we took a shower and went to cafe eiles for some food. Simple stuff, nothing fancy, nothing expensive. Good place to eat something with no high expectations. You sit wherever you find a free table and they are fast.

Came here twice in my stay as close to the hotel and open most hours. First was for a light dinner the goulash soup was very tasty but I couldn't resist some desert. The staff were helpful and spoke English. Also happy to let me sit for a couple of hours people watching. Seems to be a lot of locals... More

We visited this large bar restaurant early evening and although very busy the place was still comfortable and the service was efficient. The beer was reasonably priced and was of good quality, and the apfelstrudel was delicious.

This cafe was near our hotel and so we went for an easy dinner. It was really big inside, with comfy booths and a nice atmosphere. Menus are in English and German and the waitress was helpful. Enjoyed our food and the portions were good. I was easily able to get a tasty veggie meal. Would definitely recommend!

Went for dinner, nice atmospheric with helpful staff and at reasonably prices. Got English menu that make it much easier to order what you really want... Had the Goulash soup (4.2 Euro) and Wiener Schnitzel (8.9 Euro)- both very good. Apple strudel (3.9 Euro) was also great. Not fancy but a very good place for an ordinary dinning.

Very good food and reasonably priced. I enjoyed every meal I had in this restaurant. Close to parliament and a bit from city centre.

Staying in Josefstadt

Neighbourhood Profile
The eighth district is an older generation’s Vienna at its finest: and this is what makes it popular with locals of all ages. Josefstadt has theatre, small independent shops, romantic passageways, neighbourhood cafés with regular clientele, church squares, town palaces and shady communal gardens. Trendy hangouts have conquered distinctive places such as the Old General Hospital (Altes AKH) and the vaults of overground U6. Theater in der Josefstadt on Josefstädter Strasse is the district’s cultural epicentre. Even if your German isn’t good enough to watch a play, you can marvel at the typical Biedermeier building and take a glimpse into the foyer. Lange Gasse houses an iconic local restaurant at its corner, as well as a legendary sweet shop and a bustling neighbourhood market every Saturday. For small palace atmosphere and a different view on Vienna’s history, make your way to Schönborn garden palace (Palais Schönborn), which houses the Museum of Folk and Folk Art (Volkskundemuseum). Maria-Treu-Platz, with its summer outdoor cafés facing baroque church Maria Treu, and the historic passageway of Lerchenfelder Strasse 13 hide top spots for insiders.
