Im so glad my friends brought me here! The place is very cozy and soothing together with the live piano music just perfect to just sit back and relax and enjoy their luscious desserts! Their apple struddle was lovely! And the viennese coffee was awesome! Im sure i would come back here.

Enjoyed a very good Wiener schnitzel for lunch. A casual dining experience - for me personally because of the history of famous diners down the centuries !

Quickly stopped off here at the end of the day for a quick drink and a sausage dish. The atmosphere was lovely with a piano being played in the background. The ceiling and decoration in the cafe are absolutely lovely..... much like the food!

We went for brunch and there was a great selection of brunch style food and the coffee was very good. Beautiful old style Viennese building and service was excellent.

Yes this is a Viennese institution but it is overpriced and does not provide particularly high quality food. The risotto I had was like porridge and just about as tasty.. Service is efficient but not what you would describe as warm.

Is a must if you are a historical cafe lover. Cafe Central has been visited for many important people. Is why I made the decision to go there. After around 20 minutes line, waiting, finally, got a table. The place is very nice, the architecture, got the feeling, travel in time. The quality of food is excellent and the service.... More

We ate breakfast at cafe central on Friday morning. Unfortunately the menu lacks variety. The food itself was not fresh, the bread was stale. Must say it was very disappointing.. However the deserts did look very appetizing, however after the food we received prior we decided to not even try them out.

A long queue outside was worth the wait in the end. Classic Viennese cafe, grand surroundings and decor. Organised and efficient service, the waiters were friendly and helpful, which was a first in comparison with all the other establishments we visited. Menu was traditional fare, well presented and priced as expected in the central tourist area. I had goulash soup,... More

We came in after dinner to enjoy some drinks. Great ambience, busy buzz, friendly and professional staff and lovely music played live by a grand piano player. The room in itself is worth visiting for its beauty. Romanesque domed ceiling, decorated columns and Viennese Tonnet chairs and tables make it a place to see.

Description
This famous traditional café with its 130 year history was first opened in 1876 and at the turn of the 20th century it was a popular meeting point for leading lights in the world of art, literature, politics and science such as Arthur Schnitzler, Sigmund Freud, Peter Altenberg and Leo Trotzki. Then, like today, the legendary literature café was a meeting point for all ages, regular guests, Viennese locals and visitors. Neighbourhood Profile
Inner City
In Vienna's best-known district, pedestrian boulevards Kärntner Strasse and Graben connect you with landmarks such as the Wiener Staatsoper (Vienna State Opera), Vienna’s iconic Stephansdom (St. Stephen’s Cathedral) and the vast compound of Hofburg, the Habsburgs’ former Imperial Palace. Peek down side streets such as Annagasse and Weihburggasse, and Graben’s Seilergasse and Habsburggasse, to get a feel for the centre. The Imperial Apartments and the refreshingly demystifying Sissi Museum are must-dos at Hofburg. Spacious squares such as Am Hof and Freyung often host beautiful seasonal and antiques markets.
