Yes, it is a very traditional typical Cafe in Vienna , but it has much much much more to offer than the atmosphere, the posters of actual art-exhibition and musicians on stage.... there menu is a big surprise, it is fresh and has an international...More

Cafe Markusplatz is a location with traditional coffee house concept - it's worth for a quick step in during the day to grab a mug of coffee and a piece of "Gugelhupf". Food Selection for lunch and dinner is nice, service is good.

Staying for a few days in Vienna we have been trying to find dishes that would surprise us, tasting different from what we can find in France or in Western Switzerland. We were also looking for alternates to Wienerschnitzel and Tafelspitz. We happened by chance...More

One does not expect to find a gourmet dinner at a Vienna coffeehouse BUT this place served up a great 5 course set meal with wine pairings for New Year's eve 2015. I have been to this coffeehouse several times as I lived close by...More

I wanted a different kaffeehause experience and someone suggested me Café Markusplatz. At first glance it looked traditional enough, with a slightly retro 60-70’s feel to it. Trendy enough, I thought. Little did I know what was expecting me. I ordered the Expresso Markusplatz: hausgemachtes...More

We (unfortunately) stopped there for a Sachertorte Experience, which happened to be a dry, several day old, tasteless cake, negligently served. They say in travel guides that waiters in Vienna are not the most amenable in the world. Well, it seems it's true. At least,...More

I went to this cafe for breakfast and I was not satisfied with the service (a little icy, without even the shadow of a smile), nor with the food and definitely nor with the cappuccino, which was bad. Bill was tasty instead.

Wander past Vivienne Westwood's classy shop without going in! The Café is a few doors down. set price menu includes aperitif, starter, main, dessert, bottle of delicious local wine, and 'cover'. Incredible value. I had pork in the most delicious sauce! Very simple place, used...More

I have eaten on three occasions and each time the food was very good. However, one thing missing is the lack of the fixed price menu as it tends to be on a bit too expensive (and filling) if you want to have more than...More

This is, hands down, my favourite cafe in Vienna. It may not be as chic and famous as "Sacher" or "Demel", but it has a certain, authentic Vienna-coffee-house atmosphere which you almost don't find anymore as simple, down-to-earth coffee houses are replaced either by generic,...More
