Offers a wide selection of local Austrian dishes (including wiener schnitzel, bratwurst.. But plenty of other more interesting options). Fresh mushroom dishes available on my visit. Plenty of locals had lunch, not a touristy place. Nice garden to sit outside. Had a brain with scrambled egg dish, which was lovely.

This has been my family's 'go to' neighbourhood restaurant for many years. Consistently good service, traditional Viennese menu with a twist of innovation. For a charming summer lunch ask for a table on the patio below a canopy of vines and chestnut trees. Bonus: very reasonable prices and a great wine list.

The food was prepared beautifully. A typical Austrian meal. We shared schnitzel and pork dishes with roasted potatoes. Dessert was strudel and ice cream with whipped cream. Beer was Austrian and good.

We made a return visit for a late lunch with family. As previously service was friendly and efficient, food was fair and plenty of it, and prices are reasonable. for an unpretentious popular 'local' eatery it's worth a visit. We will book a table again next trip to Vienna!

Delicious and local menu items, dig into the culture with food from this charming restaurant. Local beers on tap (Ottakring), trust me drink the local beer, that's why you are here! Try something off the menu you can't pronounce like Spanferkelgrostl or Mohnnudeln oder Nussnudelnn.

During a short trip to Vienna we had two meals here. One lunch time and one in the early evening. Both were tasty from a varied Viennese menu and served within reasonable time by the friendly waitering staff. The ambience is rather 'comfortable' without any bling or modern accoutrements. It was lovely to visit a non 'fast food'/modern food/fusion food... More

If you are looking for very authentic Viennese and Austrian food in an authentic Viennese setting, this is the place. The menu has all of the typical usual suspects of similar Viennese restaurants, but the quality is definitely and noticeably a notch above the rest. If you are in Central Vienna it's actually not difficult to find, it just takes... More

Staying in Ottakring

Neighbourhood Profile
Ottakring
The production site of popular Ottakringer beer brews up an exciting mix of working and middle class suburbs, Balkanese immigrant lifestyles, and lush patches of hilly woodland. The recently gentrified area around Yppenplatz and Brunnenmarkt boasts hip cafés and bars next to South East European delicacies at Brunnenmarkt street market. The dynamics of Ottakring become most apparent at its vibrant high street Ottakringer Strasse. At the top end you can feast on wine and local food in Austria’s oldest wine tavern 10er Marie. The wines are from the tavern’s own urban vineyards. Before you head upwards, make sure you pay a visit to the historic courtyards between Lerchenfelder Gürtel and Hippgasse. When locals visit Ottakring’s hilly green outskirts on the weekends they either climb up 31 meters of Jubiläumswarte viewing tower on Gallitzinberg, have a succulent Wiener Schnitzel at Villa Aurora, or reward their hiking exertions around Wilhelminenberg with a drink and a view from Wilhelminenberg Palace (now a hotel and restaurant).
