We were a group of 5, had a drink and an apfelstrudel. All was ok until the waitress told us the amount to pay. We had 30€ and she asked for 40€...twice. So we asked the receipt and she acted like nothing happened. So if you come here, pay attention to the check, the waiters are bad with math.

It was good, quick, cheap, service was good as well! The location is really nice since it's close to the university

The café is really nice, the staff is very attentive and friendly, great location and their home made lemonade (you can get it hot too) is good. Recommendable!

We had breakfast here twice and it was very consistently good. Great service food was fresh tasty and well presented. The juices were lovely. We enjoyed sitting outside as the weather was great but inside looked lovely too. Nice location as out if the tourist traps and seemed to be full of locals.

We visited this place for breakfast, and we were very satisfied. Nice staff, cozy terasse, reasonable prices.

We visited Cafe Stein as we went from Voltivkirche to the Sigmind Freud museum and very much enjoyed our coffee and cake. We ordered a Weiner Melange, an Eis Caffe and a piece of strudel to share. The service was good, the coffee well made and tasted good and the strudel was absolutely delicious. It was busy but we found... More

We've been here two nights in a row and the food was consistently good, as was the service. Nice outdoor seating and casual atmosphere, and reasonably priced. Great if you want an easy meal - salads, burgers, schnitzel.

We ate here on our recent visit to Wien. We were able to get a table outside, and away from the smokers, something that is often difficult in the city! However, the staff were not happy with us for some reason, and generally ignored us during our visit. We ordered traditional fare, and they were fine but nothing special. We... More

Without exaggeration, Cafe Stein played a big part in my social life in the 1990s and early 2000s: it was close to first my university, then my workplace and all my friends hung out there as well. Despite the dense smoke in the first floor and hit-and-miss quality of service, we loved it. I would always eat their legendary salad... More

Staying in Serviten Quarter

Neighbourhood Profile
Serviten Quarter
The Serviten Quarter is an inner city neighbourhood with many private charms. Popular with French and American expats, Sigmund Freud’s neighbourhood boasts his former practice and apartments, now turned into a museum. Stunning Liechtenstein Garden Palace houses the private art collection of Prince Adam of Liechtenstein. Romantic Strudlhofstiege close to the palace is a fantastic photo spot. With their small independent shops and eateries, the main streets of Liechtensteinstrasse, Porzellangasse and Servitengasse reveal much of this area’s character. Peek into baroque Serviten Church, with its richly decorated dome and walls. At the Old Jewish cemetery in Seegasse you can see one of the most precious cemeteries in Europe with tombstones almost 500 years old.
