For my 60 birthday and retirement celebrations my husband brought me back to Vienna where I lived and worked for three years fort years ago in1980. On our first night we visited Wiener and had an amazing wiener schnitzel, such a welcoming and friendly restaurant recommended by our hotel, The Aldstadt. Lovely atmosphere, surroundings and staff were so genuinely friendly... More

We dined at Wiener for dinner and cannot recommend it enough. The food was super tasty, good beer and the staff the most welcoming and energetic we have come across in Austria. I think we may have been the only tourists in the restaurant which is also a good sign.

1st visit was fine. But the second time... waited more than two hours for the main course (no kidding). The apology was as lukewarm as the food. Completely unacceptable.

Wiener is a restauant that we found on Tripadvisor...when we found it, there was only a light over the door and it was not obvious it was a restaurant at all! But open the wooden doors and you are welcomed into the most fabulous restaurant! It is cosy, but smart...friendly, but professional..beautifully presented, and perfect for a truely viennese experience!... More

What a great St. Martin's Day Meal. The goose was crispy and the dumplings were absolutely fantastic. The great meal was accompanied by a very attentive waiter. Well Done, Wiener!!

Went to Wiener on first night of our honeymoon and it was a gorgeous place. Atmosphere and staff were lovely. Plenty of selection. Portions were extremely generous however our only criticism would be that everything was oversalted.

If you want to know what viennese kitchen is about, go there! Also good wine and austrian beer. As a viennese citizen I can only recommend it. Prices are a bit above the usual but its absolutely worth it.

We were expecting a simple little local joint, but found the food and atmosphere to be quite a pleasant surprise - far nicer than we expected. We got the last table during a weeknight walk-in and then made reservations for the weekend. Lot's of locals out for a special evening. We found everything delicious, but do start with one of... We had a wonderful meal tonight at this restaurant. We walked 15 minutes to get here from MuseumsQuartier. The spinach strudel was absolutely delicious!! Definitely must try it!! We also had a wonderful salmon tartare appetiser, delicious wiener schnitzel and roast pork with delicious lentils as an accompaniment. My only feedback was that service was a bit slow and the... Discovered this traditional restaurant on our visit last year - Loved it and now came back with friends. Nice interior, great bar and a wide selection of very good, traditional Viennese dishes. Good drinks, nice atmosphere. Great service.

Staying in Neubau

Neighbourhood Profile
Neubau
Vienna’s art district, Neubau buzzes with galleries, arts and crafts, trendy restaurants, avant-garde shops, and cafés. Neubau’s Spittelberg quarter with cobblestoned Spittelberggasse and Gutenberggasse make for a perfect stroll alongside Biedermeier houses and art shops. Don’t miss the historic courtyard at Amerlinghaus with its typical Pawlatschen galleries, a perfect hangout on a warm summer evening. Museumsquartier is Neubau’s undisputed highlight: the former Imperial stables house various top museums of 19th to 21st century art. If you love interiors, head for the Imperial Furniture museum (Hofmobiliendepot), one of the world’s largest furniture collections. Find your favorites among a dazzling array of Baroque, Biedermeier, Art Nouveau and Modernist chairs, sofas, cupboards, coat hangers, foot stools and wash basins. No weekend visit would be complete without stopping by a local café on a weekend morning for brunch.
