We were 12 people in one of the separate rooms. Followed a set menu designed by the chef to give us a taste of Norway’s cuisine highlights and experience his expertise. Food was excellent. Particularly liked their smoked salmon (done on the premises), the sheeps...More

This place was quite unexpected! I agree with one of the other reviewers, it seems to be popular with the older crowd so we weren't sure what to expect when we stepped inside. We ordered the taste of Norway as a starter, loved every morsel...More

being the oldest restaurant in Oslo, Engebret cafe plays their history as a part of their story. When you step into the restaurant it's as if you're transported back in time. It was a great ambience for a special occasion or a casual one. This...More

I suppose it was a special night, or a special time of year, but we had to wait outside in the (very) cold...as did all the diners...until they opened at 8pm. I expected chaos when all the diners enter, take off their coats and start...More

Went there for the second seating in the very busy Christmas season. The place was packed. We had a very nice chambre Séparée for about thirty people with a private bar. With history reaching back to 1857 this is a unique place in Oslo. Quick,...More

This is one of the best places for lutefisk in Oslo. The meal was of the best traditional quality. Service was superb. The only things pulling negative is the high price and that they have no bar to stay in awaiting the group to be...More

It is in a short walk from Oslo main train station, about 15 min on foot, nice and pleasant stroll, you don't really need taxi. Take a train from airport and make sure you reserved a table, it gets quite busy at lunch time.
