Upon arrival I was really surprised how quiet the place was. The atmosphere were super romantic, and the service was exceptional! I was really impressed by how well the wines got presented. Very good food. Recommended.

We celebrated valentines day early as we were in Oslo for the weekend and decided to eat at Klosteret due to its amazing reviews. We picked the full tasting menu with accompanying wines and could've have picked better. The food was perfectly matched to the various wines and was possibly the best meal we've ever had. The portions were small... More

With an interresting scenerie and theme, somewhat different from most restaurants, this is truly a nice place to dine. Seldom have I experienced such great service, pleasent and the right touch of presence. Great wine, desert and drinks. I'm however sorry to report that the duck didn't live up to our expectations. But I'm open to the possibility that it... More

Candelit and cosy, you can either go a la carte or for the recommended menu - we selected a 3-course option from the latter that involved an amazing scallop tartare starter, braised cheek and wild halibet for two mains and an exquisite desert. The food was of the highest standrd with ingredients carefully selected to make the most of taste... More

Let me start by saying, I've eaten here before and it has been a great experience every time. Today on the other hand was bad, really bad. Food was great as always! No complaints there. But the service was nonexistent. Asking four times and waiting 30 mins just to get your glass filled. Ringing up more on the bill than... More

In a quiet street just a few steps outside the main streets in Oslo you find this hidden gem. Located in a basement, with hundreds of candles, the atmosphere is set for a great wine and dine evening. A large wine list, and waiters and sommeliers that knows what`s in it and how to use it with the menu. The... More

Description
Klosteret is situated in central Oslo - Hammersborg, beside the Deichmanske Main Library. The menu has a wonderful combination of continental and French dishes and the wine list is impressively diverse. The name Klosteret translates as The Monastery and there is a touch of the divine in the old brick arches lit by hundreds of candles and wonderfully calm atmosphere. A unique setting for a meal with colleagues, a romantic evening out or for guests from abroad - an unforgettable experience. The restaurant also has a Chambre Separée for private parties.
