This is bistro style atmosphere and it was a total delight. The staff was very warm and efficient. It was a lively environment filled with local charm. The food was classic Norwegian fare… but if you lack the adventuresome spirit there were safe options as well. I must admit I was planning to go the safe route… but everyone kept... More

Crowded before Christmas, difficult to get a table for dinner. Good traditional food, average desserts.

Very good service. Nice staff that made you feel welcome. Very nice and old historic place. Had eggs royal, very good food. The burger sandwich was also good, but looked a bit boring.

Make sure you are well dressed or you will get some very odd looks. If that's ok with you, then you can enjoy the great food and drinks on offer

Have been here several times over the years and the theatercafe has never failed to impress. The interior is truly elegant, lovely classic décor, wonderful classic scandinavian dishes, attentive service and very elegant clientèle. A must in Oslo.

The Theatercafe has a unique atmosphere that makes you feel like you entered the set of Mad Men only with an updated and modern vibe to it. The service is very correct, but also friendly and laid-back. What I like the most about this restaurant is that even though it has been an institution in Oslo for over a decade,... More
