We walked into this restaurant with no reservation and were graciously seated without a wait - this was a weekday, and fairly early around 7 PM. We weren't expecting much, particularly after a truly disappointing experience at Dinner Restaurant the previous night. However, the quality of the food surprised us. Our dishes were excellent - the duck was well prepared,... More

This is an expensive restaurant with an owner full of himself and nothing is that good! Trying to impose his taste on the clients and pushy. We had the mussels in coconut sauce - uneventful! Then the scallops were pure salt! Then the duck was tasteless as well! Plus white rice was bad grain, sticky and tasteless.

Nice and efficient service, and the meat was of high quality. It was a really great dinner. It is centrally located in Oslo. I will Return here on future visits to Oslo!

Good Vietanamese food, with nice atmosphere. I recommend the tasting menu where you get to taste several of the courses on the menu. They also offer a nice vine menu.

One of my Oslo favorites, been here, and to the affiliate L`atelier at Mathallen 30-40 times, but there is no renewal, decent flavors, scallop is brilliant, authentic for the most part, but all-over-experience seems dated. The Maitre`D is not the reason why people come; he is an aquired preference. The service is erratic, but effective. Boring setting and ambiance. Decent... More

What an experience! We went for the 5-dish menu and it was amazing. Bold sauces with ginger and coriander/cilantro, fresh mango, perfect textures (the swordfish was so hearty and firm, I've never had fish with that much substance before!), exciting combinations. Everything was timed quite well, as well - we never felt rushed, but didn't feel like we had to... More

Very good food. Excellent taste. Nice interior. A bit slow serving, but the restaurant was full. A bit difficult to find.

Ambience and interior decor is tastefully done. Staff are friendly and efficient. They also grant your request on table preference, when you reserve. Menu is good, and flavor of food is quite good. I will be back :)

Well located in Oslo, at the Main street (Carl Johan gate), 100 meters from the Parliament. Booked the table on the web, and speedy confirmation. Fine menu, third time visit. Pricy, but probably not far from average Oslo prices. First time i tried the Venison Fillet, excellent. This time I chose the Duck breast, also excellent! Excellent service!

The Tasting Menu is a must. If you like Asian food and Vietnamese specifically, you gonna love the Xich Lo. Wine lovers will be happy to, with a French Sommelier who will help you chose the best wine for your meal.

Pay a visit to Xích Lô (pron. cyklo) for a taste from a little Further East. This is a unique treasure of a Vietnamese restaurant, now occupying new premises on Karl Johans gate 23 B on the first floor of the new department store in Egertorget square. Delicately exotic with light and airy interior and a mouth-watering menu where the food is reasonably priced and completely authentic. Aromatic and spicy without being too hot, the dishes are served as small pieces of art on the plate. Enjoy your trip Further East!
