Located in a 300 year old wooden building behind Bryggens main harbourside. Room and and service both a bit cold. Waiter seemed disinterested. We had cod on asparagus in white wine with boiled potatoes which was bland and overpriced Beer and wine expensive as is the case at most Norwegian restaurants.

Tracteursted is off the beaten track in Bryggen. Nevertheless it's quite busy so it's recommended to make a reservation. We sat near the bar and had a number of tapas style dishes to start followed by norwegian mains. The restaurant itself is quite lovely and the bar is pretty good - a decent selection of norwegian craft beers on offer.... More

Rustic restaurant in the heart of the historic Bryggen wharf district. Quaint, cozy, warm, with attentive service. Food was good, not great, but a good sampling of traditional Norwegian cuisine. Worth a visit for the experience, though don't expect gourmet dining.

Excellent traditional Norwegian Christmas food. Quaint back street restaurant behind Bryggen. A little expensive for a lot of tourists but worth it for the charm & atmosphere of the place. Excellent food & service.

Excellent food, excellent service. The two men ate reindeer, while the two women had veal. The restaurant was very accommodating when we showed up without reservation while most of the restaurant was booked for holiday parties. Friendly, helpful staff. We would come back again next time we're in Bergen.

The portions of the small dishes are a lot smaller than we imagined. But yet we loved them. A must try is the Fish Stew. The service was extremely quick and the staff was very friendly. The interiors are absolutely amazing. We loved the pictorial illustration of the Stockfish trade. This 300+-year-old place is definitely a must visit while you... More

Now THIS was an old, quaint, merchant building, with 400-year-old beams and listing floors and minimal décor. We had lunch here, a fish soup that I would call chowder and a herring sandwich with apple and lettuce on great bread - accompanied by an excellent Hansa pilsner beer. What a lovely way to experience "old" Bergen. It was not crowded... More

This is an old structure, now a restaurant. We had a group dinner with a set of choices but everything was excellent. Service seemed a bit slow but that just gave us more time to relax. Ask staff to tell you the history of the building.

The food here was excellent, there's a 'tapas' menu so you can try a number of Norwegian foods and also an a la carte menu to choose from. The combination of flavours worked really well on everything we tried and the reindeer fillet was amazing. We went on a Wednesday evening and didn't have a reservation but managed to get... More

Description
Bryggen - the Wharf in Bergen - is known worldwide as one of UNESCO's World Heritage Sites, the centre of historical Bergen and a must for any visitor to Bergen. In the middle of Bryggen you will find Bryggen Tracteursted - renovated and reopened - with respect for its historical surroundings and with an ambition to restore its reputation as one of Bergen's top quality restaurants. Bryggen Tracteursted consists of "Schotstuen" - the Assembly Room, the Firehouse - representing the kitchen and in the back the Stable and the Hayloft. Svensgårdens Schotstue - anno 1708 - is a listed building and the only one left in its original location. The word Schotstue comes from "skytningsstova" the place where you shared your food with others.. At Bryggen Tracteursted you will find a modern kitchen inspired by local Bergen and Hanseatic cooking.
