There are two locations for this cafe and one of them has renamed itself. Regardless, the menu is the same for both. This cafe is somehow unassuming, yet slightly pretentious. They serve deliciously fresh coffee and steamy lattes, as well as hearty filling food. Try...More

Cafe Bastant is not closed. Instead it has moved to Jacobsfjorden, a small pedestrian side street off of Bryggen. It serves fantastic soups, sandwiches and sweets. We had the carrot soup, tuna salad sandwich, croque mounsieur and brownies. All were excellent.

Came here alone one rainy day, and had the Moroccan Lamb Soup, lots of veggies, chickpeas and ground lambmeat. And for me as an vegetarian chef (but not a vegetarian) I was happily surprised for the chickpeas in the soup and they must have cooked...More

A small and cosy café with a good atmosphere. Various savoury and sweet snacks are available including, when we were there, a choice of four very tasty soups. We were offered a small bowl of each soup to try and both decided to order the...More

Lovely homemade soups, great coffee, and nice atmosphere. Makes a change from a sandwich lunch. Average price, but everything in Norway is expensive for us Brits!

Norway is a very expensive contry, so finding Bastant, it was like a miracle. Me and my friend had the stroganoff soup. It was lovely. The space is small but the waitress ask if we could seat with a girl that was alone. Its nice,...More

My Gf and I went to the cafe and had a great experience. We were able to try the soup before purchase. They have plenty of different soups and some panini's. I enjoyed the place for the home made selection and warm and cozy feel....More

This cafe is really tiny, and one-man show. Be prepared for uncleared tables. Small bowl of soup with a slice of bread for NOK80 or NOK90 with meat. The soup is nothing fantastic, but quite warming for the cold weather. There's supposed to be free...More

My wife and I had soup with bread for a light lunch. The soup was absolutely incredible. I had the pumpkin soup, which is some of the best soup I have ever had. The staff were very friendly and the cafe has a nice and...More

Created by a Danish chef and a Norwegian bartender, this little cafe of soups became a natural result. All soups are made from the ground up, as is the rest of what we have to offer. Locally rosted coffee, great tea, home made lemonades, toddies, apple juice from Hardanger (where the best apples grow, no matter how much people in Sogn og Fjordane will contest it!), fruit drinks from Denmark and sodas from Fentimans. We also bake our own awesome bread, and we make some pretty darned good brownies.
