We went to Sjøbua as a party of ten, and even if we came 30 min early, the table was ready for us! We sat down and ordered drinks that came right away. The waiters were very friendly and Professional. The lobster-soup for starter is fantastic! We had many different main courses, and everybody was VERY happy!! Lutefisk, breiflabb, kolkjæft, gratinert... More

Beautiful restaurant by the sea, in the town centre of this amazing special city, on the west coast of Norway. Fantastic fresh seafood dishes, lovely atmosphere, excellent service and extremely popular. Such a shame it has closed down ....

It was the best fish restaurant in Ålesund, and now the owner has decidet to close it. It is too bad becase businesses in Ålesund used this restaurant for representation, and many came to the city just to eat here.

To bad this restaurant is closing. We have enjoyed dinner here a few times and the food has always been really good. The same can be said for the wine and the very professional service. Get a table while you can.

We had dinner here on a Thursday night. The rolls that are brought out first are unbelievably good, full of grains and nuts. I asked our waitress what they were called but she didn't know; I would love to be able to recreate them. Our appetizer was fried klippefisk (dried, salted cod), delectable! My husband had the fish platter which... More

We were very disappointed that it wasn't open at weekends - maybe during peak season - as it has had many good reviews

This place is decidedly average now whilst remaining very high cost. Food quality and service has gown downhill over the last year, prices remained high. Food was delivered cold and not all items cooked, potatoes totally raw, after been sent back waited 15 minutes for replacements. Then fresh potatoes delivered after we had eaten rest of meal. We did get... More

By Brosundet canal you can enjoy exquisite seafood at Sjobua Fiskerestaurant. The courses are made in accordance with the areas food traditions. Tanks inside the restaurant keep the fish fresh. Sjobua Fiskerestaurant is situated in a renovated warehouse used for fish processing. Here you can enjoy a delicious sortiment of courses with fish and shellfish, made from fresh raw materials. Try tasty meals with for instance monkfish, cod, halibut, catfish and stingray. Fishing boats deliver fresh crabs and lobsters to the restaurant, and they are kept in crab pots outside in Brosundet canal. Inside the restaurant there are also special tanks where live shellfish and fish are held, so the guests are treated to fresh seafood of the highest quality, and a beautiful view of Brosundet canal from the restaurants gives a pleasant setting for the meal.
