My family and I went for the first time to this pub. Our first impressions were really good, its a lovely warm cosy friendly place. We had a meal, I had breast of chicken in cream, mushroom and brandy sauce which was amazing. My other three companions had pie, haddock and beef burger, all served with chips and seasonal vegetables.... More

Found this absolute treasure, after a very long day with 3 hungry children, 1 of which is dairy intolerant. The staff were friendly, and nothing was a problem, and the food was simply amazing, yes there was a wait, but when the food is being freshly made, and the chef even changed the frying oil to ensure no dairy contamination... We stayed here while in Scarborough for the funeral of a family friend. After a five hour drive, we found this pub to be a charming and welcoming environment. The chef even prepared a beautiful and delicious platter of food for us, even though the kitchen had closed. The rooms were basic but comfortable and the Full English Breakfast delicious.... More

Ate here twice while away for the weekend. Excellent food and plenty of it! The chips are amazing! Will certainly be back next time we are in the area.

Homemade steak pie with chips and onion gravy........ Fantastic. This was a far cry from the usual microwave food found at some pubs. We arrived at 18:00 and were the 3rd group of the 4 that were there to be dining. When we left at approx 19:00 the place was almost full with diners. This place obviously already has a... More

The food here was simply wonderful ... the best lasagne i have ever tasted. Even the onion rings were home made. Only a short distance from Scarborough.

Found this pub on our holidays in the dales. Lovely place & food excellent. Friendly staff & good service. I had the homemade tomato soup & it was one of the best I've ever tasted. The homemade Lasagna was also lovely. The wife had homemade pate & gammon steak both delicious. Will definitely visit again when up there next year.... More

Dropped in for Sunday lunch on the way to Bridlington; another local pub not to take on face value. Incredibly friendly staff and the food was excellent value. I had the beef which was tender and plentiful, loads of vegetables.

We have just returned from a two night stay at The Oakwheel. We arranged to do an early check in at midday as opposed to 5.30 which that late check in put us off in the beginning. The pub was supposed to open at midday but by 12.20pm my husband had been knocking on the door and eventually found someone... More

Happened upon Oakwheel whilst travelling back to Hotel. Stopped for a drink and after seeing menu decided to eat. The place has a warm and comfortable feel and Lady behind bar was the floorshow for evening with her obliging attitude, banter and singing. Nothing seemed too much trouble. As far as food concerned, whist nothing was outstanding, it was very... More
