A group of us had a lovely evening here recently. Food arrived promptly. The only shame was the game pie/venison? It was far too salty. I think we had 3 on our table. However they enjoyed their cheeses and sweets. Maybe the chef was a little heavy handed on the old salt!

excellent food served here, portions are quality as opposed to quantity, staff very nice, always busy, so need to book, parking is limited, but free car park just down the road, better than your usual restaurant.

Thoroughly enjoyed the duck confit served on a bed of red cabbage with a potato croquette. It was delicious. The lemon meringue pie was excellent. And it was complemented by my friends order of Persian yoghurt (the creamiest yoghurt I've ever eaten) with figs and pistachios. Great atmosphere. Good bitters. Pretty good service until the end when our coffees were... More

Visited mid-week in November for dinner. We had booked. We were seated close to a warm fire in the back bar. The staff were attentive and helpful. The menu was interesting and innovative. The food was well cooked, nicely presented and tasty.

First time here. Not cheap, but nearly all locally produced or sourced ingredients. A creative menu and some great real ales.

I had the sweet potato kofka from the special boards & the root vegetable with sliced potato rather than mashed which was delicious - I highly recommend! The server was so helpful when I told her I was vegan & there were 2 or 3 starters and a couple of mains that could be "veganized" so I was happy. The... More

Truely excellent. The steak and ale pie is to die for. Will likely return within the week, it was that good!

We chose Taverners as we'd been given the impression of good food and had also read of its dog friendliness. On arrival, the reception was lukewarm. We were given a table in the modrn part of the restaurant at the back overlooking the car park because of the dog, rather than the more charming part of the pub towards the... More

Hello Brighton Belle Sorry we didn't hit the mark. To clarify our dog policy for all, we allow dogs in the back or main bar area as it is called, generally because there is more space between the tables in this area, not all customers appreciate dogs in the vicinity whilst eating and we have on occasion had some rather...
