We had roast pork served with a selection of lovely vegetables. The staff are friendly, the menu is fairly limited, but reasonably priced. We also had breakfast, which was made with lovely local produce, the bacon was amazing!

We visit the area on a regular basis and always go to The Gate ,Sunday lunch is consistently excellent , sticky toffee pudding a must !!
Had the ‘proper’ pie, this was as stated, encased in crusty pastry. It was delicious, served with crispy on the outside chips (mash was an option). On a cold snowy night this friendly pub was a good choice to stop at, good home cooked food,...More
Went for dinner with my parents on Sunday evening. The roast was perfect, service fantastic and a lovely atmosphere. Highly recommend.
A clean and orderly room if a little dated (70s twee country) and in need of a refurb. We shared a starter of peppered squid which was ok. My - as per menu: "Proper Pie," steak and ale content, was plentiful and of good pastry...More
This rural wayside pub is efficiently run by a welcoming, friendly landlord offering prompt and cheerful service. If you are looking, as we were, for a cracking lunchtime pint or two of Old Hooky to wash down an authentic, home-made proper pie and crispy chips,...More
We were recommended here for lunch after completing the Hook Norton brewery tour. Good home cooked food. Service was a little slow, considering it wasn't packed out with people, but as we were not in a rush, it wasn't a major issue.
FABULOUS home made steak pie and best chips ever. Not fast food - be prepared for a little wait but worth it for great freshly cooked food. Dog friendly too and excellent friendly service we will be back and soon.
Stayed here for 1 night, didn't eat in the restaurant but the food looked great and the beer was from the local brewery.will try the food next time we are in this area.Staff very polite and helpful.
No more needs to be said than this. Friendly service and atmosphere. Well worth the visit and don't forget to have a pint of the excellent hook norton beer
