About
When we first started talking about the ami concept, the questions we kept asking ourselves were "what would we want to eat?" And "what sort of restaurant would we like to eat in?" From the small acorn of an idea ami bistro became a reality and opened its doors in June 2014. We are an independent, local family run business offering an alternative to the standardised fare of the large chains. Our independence allows us the luxury of being very flexible with our menu, constantly evolving our menu options as the seasons and tastes change. From the very beginning the ambition was to serve customers with the best quality lunches and first class dinners. We are particularly passionate about fresh, local and seasonal produce. Our selection of wine is carefully chosen to complement our dishes and again is sourced from a local independent supplier. When the weather is good our outside south facing patio is incredibly popular for dining. So please sit back, relax and enjoy your meal, and as always, should you have any comments good or otherwise please do feed them back to our front of house staff.

We had never considered 'bistro' for a Friday Dinner and we were wrong until yesterday. The staff at a hotel recommended the 'Ami Bistro' for a evening meal and unwillingly took this suggestion. Disregarding COVID19 regulations, the quality of food was outstanding, service was exceptional and we were pleased with stylish restaurant's interior. Highly recommend!

I haven't been to Ami for a couple of years and at that time, I gave it a five star review. Very happy to do so again! We went for Sunday lunch which was extremely generous and absolutely delicious. At £22 for two courses, this could be considered a bit pricey but the quality and quantity make this pretty reasonable. The staff are very friendly and efficient and the social distancing measures made us feel safe. I had roast beef which was amazing, followed by a lovely cheeseboard with lots of variety.

This restaurant is an absolute gem! Just wish I had discovered it before. We were a party of 6 including a vegan and vegetarian. We all had the Sunday roast, my wife and I had the sirloin of beef and our friends the chicken. Literally the best roast I’ve had in any restaurant. The portions are very generous and the food delicious. There was the option to have either 2, or 3 courses for a set price, great value.
The vegan in our party had a mushroom Thai broth as a starter and the nut roast as a main course, she said It was delicious.
The service was fabulous and a big shout out to Nick who was attentive, but not intrusive. He helped make our family lunch the perfect dining experience and we can’t wait to go back.

upon recommendation my partner I booked to dinner at ami...
the less then warm reception by staff who seemed fed up and sour faced.
we were impressed by the menu it looked great, we asked if the waitress she could recommend a wine to which the reply was a blunt I dont drink, so no. no offer to ask other members of staff or any help. on her return with with our wine my partner was still trying to decide what to order the waitress spoke to us as if we were taking to long.
the starters were ok but nothing to shout about.
the mains were mediocre at best. still hadn't seen the staff smile even once at this point.
the dessert, the treacle tart was ok. the creme brulee was not great at all my partner couldn't eat as it was an effort for her to break the topping and the creme was more of a heavy substance, needless to say she couldn't eat it. when the waitress came to take the plates she asked if it was ok? "sorry but I didn't enjoy it" was my partners reply to which the staff members response was oh well, I'll check in the kitchen if it's an old batch? she returned even more a sour faced then before with the response of "we all tried it in the kitchen and it's fine! (nearly £8 for fine?) then she said " have you had brulee before?" yes many times! I didn't realise being condescended to by your staff was on the menu!
I will not be recommending this place and I will happily never return.

Me and family visited Ami for a family meal out. Ami have recently added delicious cocktails to the menu, I highly recommend the limoncello one! I really liked that I could select 3 starters as small plates for my main meal which were equally tasty and well priced. The staff were friendly and the chefs Amy and Spike delivered exceptional food. Will definitely be visiting again soon!

We visited the Bistro with friends yesterday evening.
The food was exquisite, I had the mackerel starter, which I never wanted to end! It was beautifully presented and the flavours were so good.
I then had Halibut which was in a chowder sauce. Again, absolutely delicious.
Although the whole restaurant was packed, the service was very good. We weren’t rushed, and the timings between courses was perfect.
It’s nice to see a restaurant that hasn’t packed the tables in too, so you don’t feel you are enjoying you meal with others literally a meter away. I would say this is a medium priced restaurant, but felt for the fresh ingredients, cooked to perfection, it was fabulous value for money.
If you haven’t visited, book now, you won’t be disappointed 😊

First visit to this charming bistro close to the seafront in Worthing.
A warm welcome from helpful, friendly staff and a comfortable environment put us immediately at ease. A varied selection of dishes made selection a delightful challenge. We chose from the reasonably priced 2 course lunch menu. When served, portions were generous and all of our choices tasted absolutely delicious.
If you live in or around Worthing or are just visiting for a day this restaurant is an absolute must visit!

You may not know. Ami have continued to trade using a takeaway service
Collection or Delivery. The menu is on their website. Collected four dinners from them Sunday lunchtime.
It was fantastic, absolutely lovely.
It will really cheer up your day.

Another works event yesterday and 17 of us enjoyed a superb lunch here. Really nothing to fault. I had the Brie which came with a nice salad and red onion marmalade. Followed by a delicious steak with fries and peppercorn sauce.
As before, all of us really enjoyed every course. To serve 17 people all at once can't be an easy task but Ami Bistro manage it with ease.
Certainly looking forward to my next visit.
Friendly, welcoming and efficient staff ensured a real positive experience.
Thank you.

Walking along the seafront at Worthing provided a good selection of burgers, bur we wanted something a bit special. A few streets back we found Ami Bistro. We ordered their suggested selection of 5 starters from a list of 10 as a main course. The salmon mousse was not available that night, but all the 5 we picked were delicious.
The meal and service were so good that we immediately booked for the following night. The next was equally good, and along came a bonus of a dish of salmon mousse 'on the house' as an apology for the night before.
If you want first grade food served with a smile in a friendly restaurant at a reasonable price, Ami will provide ti

We were nervous about going into a restaurant following lockdown restrictions being lifted and we decided on Ami Bistro being our first place to return to. We looked into the amended menu before we arrived and ordered the Chateaubriand. We got a good slot and when we arrived it was really hard to find anything that hadn't been thought out in terms of the safety of everyone in the restaurant. The processes were clearly laid out and service was outstanding. We commented to each other than the service was attentive and friendly but never intrusive (a really delicate balance).
The food?
well that was pretty amazing as well. we were happy with every course and we couldn't have been happier that we chose this place as our first place to eat out following lockdown.
We're also really proud to support smaller, local businesses after what must have been a dreadful few months.
We'll be back again!

Visited on friend’s recommendation. Firstly, precautions due to covid were very good - sanitiser on entry and exit, all staff wearing masks, distanced seating and staff contact, plus menu and tables sanitised. Given limited seating I would recommend booking ahead.
The menu had half a dozen choices for starters and the same for mains, with a good wine list organised by taste. We had the cod and Mexican seafood starters, both really tasty and well presented. Mains followed and once again really well cooked and presented, tasty but not over cooked. The duck was exceptional. I managed two scoops of homemade ice cream and again really tasty and filling, especially the hobnob scoop!
Staff attention was just right, pleasant but not overbearing.
All in all a real treat and consistently good as the other reviews mention.
We will be back when next in the area!

Haven't been to Ami since the Pandemic began. Kicking myself! Had lunch there today with my husband and it was gorgeous. We had the three small plates (tapas style) for £25 pp, accompanied by a bottle of bubbly. I had the garlic chestnut mushrooms and smoked salmon rilettes, and my husband had the calamari and confit duck. We both had the Ami Smokey. Six clean plates! The food was amazing, the service lovely and the atmosphere very chilled. Highly recommended and will be going back soon with our daughter!

My daughter and I visited Ami for Sunday lunch as we particularly like their roasts! This is the first time we have visited since lockdown and the bistro has dealt with social distancing very well. There is hand sanitiser at the entrance and plenty of space between the tables. The food was excellent as usual, with a great selection of veg, perfect roast potatoes and Yorkshires, pigs in blankets, stuffing, and plenty of gravy. You must have the cauliflower cheese as an extra, it’s amazing! We had the chocolate mousse for pudding which was delicious and beautifully presented. Nick is always welcoming, and the waitress was friendly and polite. Ami is highly recommended.

I'd asked Ami in advance when I booked if they had wheelchair access and they reassured me that there was a step in to the restaurant but they would provide a small ramp and they also had disabled loo.
For the very first time, this restaurant had put the ramp outside prior to our arrival (I normally need to go in and ask) and the table was already prepared with a seat removed to provide immediate space for the wheelchair. This has never happened before and I am so grateful for their consideration.
The food, although a little pricey, was absolutely delicious - with good size main course portions. I can recommend the slow cooked ribs, the duck pate and the goats cheese truffles. For main, one of our party had the fillet steak (which they are still talking about!), another had the cod (in an amazing cream sauce) and I had the chicken and couscous.
They also seem to have a good cocktail menu - we didn't have any but the concoctions making their way to other tables looked amazing.
Doesn't look much to look at from the outside, but this bistro is absolutely worth booking if in the Worthing area
