We were a party of 13 for dinner on a Saturday night. The atmosphere in the pub was warm and welcoming and the food was good and very reasonably priced. The menu was varied and contained some unusual choices which was nice. However unfortunately the service was a bit slow and rather charmless. Two of our orders were muddled up... More

Monday nights so quiet, plenty of options for tables as arrived about 19.00. Chose a seat close to the roaring log fire, close to the bar, nice ambiance. Excellent selection of specials on the boards, plus a full menu. Just a main course, bit of a wait, but that is a reason to have a starter perhaps. Food arrived, well... More

We were a group of 10 for Sunday lunch and all had a great time. The food was fresh and generous and both the vegetarians and the carnivores in our party were well catered for. The staff were very pleasant and the atmosphere was warm, inviting and very jovial. Highly recommended.

Well priced food for such a great taste! Welcoming too, especially with the fire on in the restaurant. Couldn't fault it.

Warm welcome - literally with a glowing fire on a chilly October evening. Extensive menu and specials board. Excellent food - well cooked with plenty of veggies. No room for a sweet!!

Great service. The portions were very large and filling. 3 of us had the steak and mushroom pie. When it was brought to the table I think all of us opened our eyes wide at the size of it. The child in our party had Jacket potato with cheese and beans. Can honestly say that I was completely full and... More

We were a party of 4, two of the party had walking problems, but it was no problem for the friendly barmaid who promptly opened the bottom door so it was a level entry . The meals we had were 2 x cod & chips, 1 ham egg and chips and 1 steak ale and mushroom pie, we all agreed... More

Friendly welcome to this pub, recommended by our hosts. Surprisingly busy for early Monday evening. The rabbit casserole and lamb steaks were excellent although the cheese board lacked some choice with only two cheeses,

Good old fashioned pub with a lovely homeley feel. Most of the diners were our pensioner age and seemed to be having a great time. The food was super value for money served promptly by charming girls.

Thank uccharlie

A warm welcome always awaits you at this tradional country pub near Tavistock, with a fine range of real ales and wines. Our chefs run a lunch and evening menu with an extensive homemade specials board. The Blacksmiths Arms boasts a bar area with a large woodburner and a dining room that can hold approx 80 people. Booking a table is always advisable, as we get very busy. We have disabled access via our dining room, also children are more than welcome too, highchairs are available.
