We (myself and my wife) often walk the dog along the canal. We never used to bother with this place as it wasn't very good tbh. But....we knew it was being refurbished into a sort of gastro pub. We stopped off for a coffee one sunday morning to have a nose about and see what the new décor was like.... More

This was our first visit to this pub since its major makeover. We had ceased using the old establishment as the food quality and choice went downhill and the ambiance was very down at heel. So, what a revelation the revamped place is. Clean, bright, modern but tasteful would sum it up for me. The two young ladies on bar... More

We heard that this pub had just reopened ,after being closed for some time,so decided to go again after many years. It was a weekday night so we didn't book, it now had a fresh modern look having been completely re fitted to high standard .A large outdoor seating area, open fire and open plan bar and dinning area. Good... More

This pub has recently re-opened after a complete refurbishment and was very nice indeed. We had sandwiches and a drink each - very reasonable price and sat outside. Large outdoor seating area as there is a caravan park attached. It is also handy for a walk along the canal should you so wish!

Beautifully decorated with great service and incredible food that still manages to feel like a local pub. Perfect location for a dog walk and a sneaky pint.

After reading the reviews about the pub being under new ownership I was so looking forward to going back there only to find it worse than ever there were 2 girls behind the bar seemed to completely lack any kind of knowledge or experience they seemed more interested in there phones and talking among themselves after waiting for about 10... My friend and I popped in on a late September Monday lunchtime as we had my Greyhound with us and we knew that the pub was dog friendly. We also wanted to see the pub after it's recent makeover. We were pleasantly surprised as the new decor has been very tastefully done. We had a starter each, tiger prawns and... More

Not the Rutland Arms as signposted! Rainy Monday late lunchtime, pretty quiet. Food came quickly and was fine. Decent fish and chips and burger, nicely presented. Staff polite, prompt and attentive. Decent beer and wine, well served. Attractive decor, great location. A very enjoyable lunch.
