Just arrived at this venue at 7pm on a Sunday evening for an evening meal, the restaurant is split in to two, to the right two tables were occupied whilst to the left of the restaurant it was empty although all tables were set and awaiting customers. We asked at the reception area for a table for two, the receptionist... More

Thank you so much for your review. I can't tell you what a pleasure it is to have such a measured response to my years of blood, sweat and tears, sleepless nights over paying wages and bills, 18 hour days 7 days a week, missing out on my kids growing up, and sinking my hard earned cash into this business... I last ate here some 2 years ago and booked it for some guests in the hope of improvements...no such luck. When we arrived the Front of House Manager seemed preoccupied with other jobs somewhere in the back of the restaurant, and only gave us a very cursory acknowledgement. The waitress changed during the meal for some reason and seemed... More

During our holiday called in here on spec when looking for a Sunday roast. We were quickly seated, served with drinks and a menu. We both chose the beef - one medium and one rare and were not disappointed. A great vegetable selection and generous portions of meat and veg.

Having eaten both lunch (including their fabulous Sunday lunch) and dinner here on several occasions I can honestly say that food is consistently wonderful and surprisingly reasonably priced too for the quality presented. The atmosphere is always warm and friendly and the local Cornish staff are incredibly charming, funny and welcoming to all ages, whether they are local or visitors... More

Our 50th celebration dinner at The Globe was a night to remember thanks to our attentive host who looked after the six of us superbly from the moment we arrived. Nothing was too much trouble as we munched our way through, baby calamari, cheese soufle, belly pork, steak, venison, fish n chips with truffle peas. The generous portions meant we... More

While visiting Fowey recently I was keen to try local produce and having looked at the menu the seafood options seemed attractive. While it is maybe unfair to judge on one meal I felt that there was not much attention given to detail. Although the Mylor prawns I had as a starter were plentiful they were very small which made... We popped in to The Globe specifically to have the Cakey Tea which my wife sounded keen on. The staff were very friendly and the cakey tea was excellent. There were 4 cakes (see picture) which were all cooked perfectly, and not even the scone was heavy. The restaurant itself was clean and fresh with proper table clothes. A good,... More

We recently visited Cornwall on holiday with our dog. We visited Fowey for the day and were looking for a nice restaurant to eat in rather than a cafe/pub but realise the choice can be limited with a dog in tow. However, on entering The Globe we were warmly welcomed and told we could bring our dog too. The owners... More

Originally a Posting House where people could 'hire' horses and get 'victuals', The Globe has been in Fowey for around 400 years. It has had many guises over the years but has always been a place of hospitality. Since taking over the building in March this year, it has been our philosophy to produce fantastic food using the very best ingredients Cornwall has to offer along with the warmest Cornish hospitality.

Our Head Chef, Glynn Wellington, is Fowey born and bred, and proud to be Cornish and utilise the wonderful produce on our doorsteps. You may see him collecting the bread from Quay Bakery, just 50 yards away from the restaurant, or picking wild garlic in the fields around Fowey. Our meat comes from Kittows of Kilhallon just 3 miles away, and our mussels from beds about a mile away by sea. Our coffee is hand roasted here in Cornwall and our beers are all brewed in St Austell. Even our bubbly is Cornish from the award winning Camel Valley, near Bodmin.

Over the coming months we will be restoring the letting rooms upstairs to their former glory and then be able to offer the finest Cornish food, drink and hospitality, right here in the heart of Fowey.
