Hubby and I had lunch at the Kings Arms awhile back. On arrival we were initially met by a young frenchman, who did not look up from his computer, nor make any eye contact. Just said hello and when we told him we have a reservation, he just pointed to a table and told us seat there. Not a good... More

We reserved a table for four, requesting a 'good' table and mentioning the occasion. The Sunday roast etc was its usual first class standard. The table had been thoughtfully chosen and a Happy 60th Birthday message on a plate arrived with the dessert for the birthday 'boy'. The staff were attentive when needed and we were not at all hurried.... More

The service and atmosphere, very good. however very noisey. The food portions very small for the price. Starters ; 3 small scallops £9 ish. Main was a very small fillet about 3 inches long on a bed of crushed potato and a few leaves of wilted spinach; £16. Childrens portions. Our friend had requested his lambs liver to be rare... More

We'd driven past here so often saying we should go in one day, that we finally got round to it, and we weren't let down. The entrance looks grand from the outside, and the internal layout is elegant and welcoming. The service was good throughout, which should never be overlooked having been to many places that cannot say the same.... More

Sunday - a good selection at a reasonable price. The soufle was good as was the pork. Worth having the dinner rate at the hotel. Monday - completely different, very overpriced, put garlic on the steak without it being mentioned on the menu, the vegetable was a withered leaf. Tempura starter was good though

Went for a weekday lunch to the Kings Arms with a lunch offer of £14.50 for a two course and a glass of wine. The choice was excellent and the quality even better, really enjoyed our lunch and the service was very professional and efficient and the surroundings lovely. will look forward to our next visit.

Took my business client out with his wife . 8.30pm table meant limited choice left from the menu. pre dinner drink in the bar meant they had given our table away and hastily had to rearrange chairs to seat us. My clients wife complained about the state of the ladies toilets. Then when asked for our coats led through to choose... More

We went for the 5 course special early evening menu. This was very good. In my opinion the highlight was the Beef sharing platter. The beef was very tender and tasty. Service was efficient and friendly. The only quibble I would have is the sharing platter of desserts wasn't very well designed for sharing and would have been better served... More

Arrived just in time for set meal offer - two courses for £29 for two people. Warm welcome, but restaurant was dark with some peculiar decorations. Above my head was a row of HP sauces and tomato ketchup bottles. What is that about? My starter was mussels, which I despatched in literally one minute. Tiny bowl sprinkled with croutons. Not... We booked the Valentines day tasting menu and were not disappointed with our choice. The restaurant was busy for a Sunday evening and we were shown to our table and offered a drinks menu.
