From the moment we arrived we were greeted with fantastic and friendly northern hospitality. Room 4 was comfortable and had everything we needed for an overnight stay. If you want somewhere friendly, welcoming and reasonably priced in Windermere then this is the place. Good old fashioned bar food, clean rooms, an open fire and dogs are welcome. We enjoyed a very nice meal. My husband had lamb shank & thought it was the best he tasted. I had the fish & chips, tasty but thought the fish was on the small side. Reasonably priced drinks. The staff were pleasant. Would recommend.

Stayed at the Royal Oak for two nights B&B. All the staff very welcoming and accommodating. Rooms very comfortable, tea/coffee, TV, wifi and shampoo etc. Bar good choice of local beers and usual Lagers. Bar food good choice and price. We called in The Royal Oak while looking for somewhere for lunch - the girl on the bar was lovely very friendly and helpful. Food was all gorgeous I had Shepherds pie it was delicious others had lasagne, steak and ale pie and the fish everyone was very happy with their homemade food.
