I had steak n kidney pudding ...came with excellant chips ..peas and Julianne carrots which were obviously frozen and we're boiled not steamed , too cold, wet and flavourless. The steak n kidney pud was ok ..lots of meat and rich gravy and not bad for £7.75. My partner had mixed grill at £15.95 and it was all too dry... More

It's the usual menu for a pub. Quality was good, staff friendly enough. Very popular spot. Cute atmosphere.

Arrived at our b&b in the pouring rain and ended up at John Peel for supper. Best pie we have had ever and everything else was cooked perfectly and piping hot. Also very reasonable.

Went to Bowness on Windermere with my wife and children, very hungry kids at the end of the first day there and popped in as food smelt lovely, great children's menu and great choice through the menu for the adults. Very kind staff, super food, welcoming with family and our dog, cannot complain and will return. Cannot go wrong here.

After travelling for 6 hours to the lakes we checked in to our hotel and went for a wander, we stumbled across here and decided to stop for a drink, we glanced at the menu and realised we were hungry, the food didn't dissapoint and was great value for money

Typical pub grub at a location that is easy to find and park nearby, not in the busy part of town thus reasonable prices, standard fare with gravy seems the best option, beer is fine too.
