I'm genuinely blown away by this place. Review below: Walked in off the street but without a booking. I'd advise against doing this on a weekend but early in the week you should be ok. Seated straight away and drinks order taken, which brings me to: Drinks. Amazing selection, including king cobra! Cannot complain. Plenty to choose from and reasonably... More

Everyone who lives nearby comes here knows how fantastic it is. We don't live dead close but I've been before and it's just fab. The staff are warm and friendly, it's in an old church / chapel so the atmosphere and surroundings are great and the food is awesome. My lads always have butter chicken. They didn't do it but... Absolutely lovely day. £9.95 for the Sunday special and it was super. 15 if us and the food all arrived together, was generous portions, was all hot and all the family enjoyed ourselves. The owner George and the staff were really nice and polite. We learned they had been there 28 years and in fact lives in Tameside, Cheshire near... More

Just when we were giving up on finding a real curry in this desert of northern England, we found the Mahabharat . We knew about it but had never found anyone who used it or had used it.Located in a former Baptist chapel , the most off putting thing about it, it has a high level of tasteful décor ,... More

I have frequented Mahabharat 20+ times and I have never had a bad experience. The curries are always beautiful and well spiced. The staff are attentive and they remember you and offer a nice personal service. Really great Indian restaraunt, superb looking, modern interior also. Excellent.

We are lucky we live local to this place. Just been in for yet another great meal. Went with hubby and both had a starter - onion bhaji for me, chicken chat for hubby (apologies if spelling wrong). My favourite - chicken munchria for main and can't remember hubbies main, with naan breads. A few drinks and a coffee -... More

We recommended The Mahabharata to friends and really happy we did. We were all made very welcome and had a really tasty meal with superb service. The curry is cooked beautifully not just smothered in spice and the whole experience was really enjoyable.
