Visited on a Tuesday evening with our grandson. Fantastic value at £6.95 on Tuesday evening. The pizzas were thin and crispy just as we like them and the shellfish pasta was superb!

Went to the Toby inn to celebrate my mum's 50th birthday the service and food was excellent until the main course when my mum began choking on a bone that was in the gravy on her Lamb Henry. My mum went to the toilet to try and get it out but we were unable to do anything and realised we... More

We visit the Toby virtually every Sunday evening , never had a bad meal and the staff are always very welcoming. I have noticed the last few poor reviews and I suspect an ulterior motive. I think people should look past the few recent bad reviews strangely all within a couple of days, perhaps someone with an axe to grind.... More

Having read several reviews from 29 Jan, I felt I had to comment. I was also in the restaurant at the same time as the large birthday party that have left several reviews. There were small children in the party who were largely left unattended and allowed to run freely around the restaurant, being loud and unruly. Waitresses were carrying... More

Came here with family for my birthday meal. Booked in advance and we were seated very quickly. I wasn't too keen on the veg soup starter or the chicken kebab, it was a bit dry. However, everybody else's meals were fab and if we were to return I would definitely order the spicy meatball dish. Read a few reviews about... More

Absolutely disgusting restaurant. Sat down for a meal and waited for 25 mins gor our first drinks. Then we waited a further 45 for starters, which wasnt a problem at first but when the chef comes out making sexual innuendos to my wife and 15 year old daughter i had to have a word. Further more we waited for an... More

We had planned a surprise birthday meal last night for mother in laws birthday for 6.30 and chef was in a mood from the get go. He was swearing aggressively at his staff and behind the open kitchen at the fact our children were making noise. Felt really uncomfortable as everytime i would look up he would be looking at... Hated the experience my 50th birthday ruined by a arrogant owner . He treats his staff disgusting and isn't any better with his customers, my daughter booked this restaurant for my birthday and we were treated as if we should not have been there , my argument is tell us when we booked it that he doesn't like large party's... We are a family run restaurant and pub. Beautifully located in the Broadhead Valley with panoramic views across the West Pennine Moors, we have been cooking here since 1987. We pride ourselves on the quality of our food which is made fresh everyday. Our dough is made by hand and baked daily for the freshest bread. Our meats and fish are sourced locally to ensure great flavour in their freshness.
