Although they use a lobster in their logo I had not realised this was a fish restaurant and on the website there is a very small reference to it specialising in seafood. I don’t eat fish at all but do eat seafood but I hadn’t realised that the menu would consist of almost entirely fish (not seafood) and be so... More

We've eaten in quite a few Michelin star restaurants including some 2 star and I have to say, this was one of the best tasting menus I've ever had. If you love fish and you love great food, this place is a must! Front of house are superb and I would particularly like to mention Kevin who helped make it... More

Another delicious meal at The Olive Room. So lucky to have this calibre of cooking in Ilfracombe. We had the taster menu which gave a good selection of the dishes on the main menu, with an amuse bouche to start followed by six courses, each beautifully crafted and exciting, with wonderful flavours and textures. We really savoured the succession of... More

As regular visitors to Ilfracombe we're been lucky enough to dine at The Olive Room several times. It never disappoints. Understated service. Simple surroundings. The food speaks for itself- simply sensational.

£65 each for a 6 course taster menu, good sized portions on lovely plates/bowls. The dishes were similar to those on the main menu, the main menu had maybe 3-4? options each of starter, main, dessert. Service was excellent, not rushed, and the waitress was happy to chat about the ingredients and ask the chef some questions. The food was... More

Food is always good with Thomas at the helm. Sometimes there is a wait between courses but everything is prepared from scratch.

Outstanding meal, friendly, polite, at tentative staff, will definitely want to return one day. There was a large table of 12 also booked to arrive half an hour after us, which we were made aware of, just in case we felt put off because of the size of the group and the noise they may make, or any hold ups... A bit late posting but well worth the drive from Lynmouth on a wet October evening. The food and service were excellent, the only down side was a large table which given it is a small restaurant meant we had to listen to everything they had to say! We had the tasting menu which was good value given the quality... More

We went for a meal for two here on a winters day (we pre-booked) and we weren't disappointed. The restaurant has a nice atmosphere with attentive staff who know the food they are serving, the menu was brilliant but it was a hard choice deciding what to choose! i think another visit to try something else will be on the... A wonderful dining experience in the new "foodie quarter " of Ilfracombe. Served by knowledgeable and the most friendly of front of house staff. Utterly beautifully crafted and delivered menu comprised of locally sourced foods. Delicate fish, succulent meats and to-die-for deserts. Book ahead and treat yourself to the most exquisite restaurant in North Devon! I can't wait to return!
