Have not been here for about 25 years and after being unable to get in any were near to the Atkinson Theatre on a Saturday early evening decided to give it a chance. Glad we did. Decor fine and everywhere up to date. Staff courteous and helpful. Menu was quite extensive with plenty of fish dishes. As we were going... More

So disappointed in this place as I used to cook here when I started out 20 years ago. It used to be a busy well worked kitchen with no microwaves in site. Our food was poor! Over cooked and bland mussels to start. An undercooked mixed grill with a bleeding lamb chop! The wife had cold soup and a hot... More

After working away pretty solidly for several years I recently acquired some time off. Returning to the Forge having not been for about four years wasn't on my list of things to do but it was my partner who suggested we go to Southport to avoid the Grand National crowds in Liverpool and the traffic. It made sense and we... More

Visited Saturday, very little choice on menu, settled for fish and chips at £13.95, fish was tasteless, probable straight out of freezer, cheapest wine was £15. Some people are easily pleased, will not be eating there again .

Sorry to hear you didn't enjoy your visit, the price for the fish and chips reflects that we only use fresh locally sourced haddock, we hand peel and chip all our potatoes, with homemade mushy peas. Nothing out of the freezer. Our Ala Carte menu consists of 20 main courses, plus at least 6 on our specials, so I'm confused... More

I visited here for a birthday meal - excellent starter of goats cheese. Main was nice (monkfish curry), everything was of a good standard however the time between starters and mains was very slow. Same again waiting for desserts. The drinks came at different stages. I did have a lovely time and I would visit here again however the slow... More

Fantastic Meal, excellent quality and fantastic service! Highly Recommended. This and Fahrenheit are certainly the best places to eat! Couldn't go wrong with either, they both knock spots of their neighbours.

Tucked away down a little side street, you wouldn't know it was there, but when we found The Forge we were welcomed and seated quickly. On street parking was easy nearby. We liked the relaxed and friendly feel of this restaurant which specialises in seafood. Everywhere was clean and the chefs cook in an open kitchen so you can see... More
