Wow what a lovely homely and welcoming place this is. We have just been for a quick drink and food whilst on a short stay to Stirling and say by the open fire. A lovely place with great service. Highly recommended 😀

Solid, well presented pub grub in beautiful cosy surroundings with a real fire! Meals were very ample and excellent tasting.

This is a busy place, and for good reason. The food and service are out of this world, which combined with the reasonable prices, extensive menu, and beautiful decor, make this a must visit for visitors to Stirling Castle.

Three hours of Stirling castle works up an appetite. We didn't want to GI far for lunch as we wanted to go into Argyll's house at 2.15 A guide recommended this restaurant bar just outside the gate. A lovely old room with bar stone walls, friendly staff and a warm fire welcomed us in. A good sized dish of chilli,... More

They told me at the Portcullis that you normally have to book the restaurant well in advance, but my wife and I managed to get a table two nights in a row. (It was mid-week though and rainy nights in March) Yes you got it, we enjoyed our meal so much the first night that we went back. The first... More

After a busy wonder around Stirling Castle, our hungry appetites were completely sated by the amazing food in Portcullis! The Steak Pie was to die for Andy partners burger was a meal to talk about. I highly recommend this place! Very nice ambience too! 👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻

Came to Portcullis last month with family and we all had a great night. The restaurant is really nice, cosy and we all felt so relaxed straight away. Majority of us got the steak which was incredible, and those who didn't all enjoyed their meal. The staff were welcoming, friendly and attentive. The value for money was outstanding and we... More

Three of us ate here. It was busy with many tables reserved. All of us enjoyed our meals although there weren't many veggie choices. The staff were friendly and the service excellent.
