This is a lovely little pub with friendly locals and staff, and we had an excellent dinner there. Even though we arrived just after the kitchen closed, they re-opened for us.

We arrived at 22:20 after walking / running 200 miles from Edale in Derbyshire as part of the Montane Spine Race along the Pennine Way. We were with a Japanese athlete who was injured, cold, and very tired. The landlord made sure we had somewhere to sleep and recover under cover and ensured we had everything we needed, all for... A great pub for great food. We recently visited with two vizslas, and were made very welcome. The food was so good that we returned the following night. Fantastic beer battered cod and really great lasagne, eaten over two nights! Definitely worth the 20 minute drive from our B&B.

Had Bury Black Pudding to start and fantastic taste with a lovely " au pouivre" sauce followed by a Lamb Rogan Josh home cooked main meal with a lovely popadom and then a Forest Fruits Crumble with custard. Best meal in a long time and... More

Plenty of walking in the area to either develop an appetite or walk a full stomach off. We went for lunch and the food was fantastic. The pie was made with proper short crust pastry and teamed with the crumble was the perfect winter warmer. The whole family enjoyed their food and would easily recommend this place.

We recently had lunch at this little pub while walking in the area. There was no one else eating which is always a worry, but we were rewarded with a fantastic homestyle meal at a very reasonable price. I had slow cooked lamb shank, which literally fell of the bone served with mash and mint gravy. My husband had a... More

Third pub we tried for a lunch and the first one to welcome dogs. So glad the first two pubs didn't welcome dogs as we'd not have had such an enjoyable meal. Warm welcome from both sides of the bar and we were soon in conversation with them all. Husband chose the pigeon and black pudding pie - in proper... More
