We've just been back here, 16 years after our first visit - not sure why we didn't make it sooner given we have a little village house only 15km away. This has all the charm you'd expect of the oldest venta in the Axarquia - 800 years old. Blackened beams and stonework, old tiled floors, a quirky approach to the... More

We looked for a restaurant on trip advisor prior to our trip and we were so pleased with had. Firstly there are few restaurants in these remote locations and secondly and most importantly the restaurant was very interesting in terms of ambience and menu offerings. We ordered a pork in honey main course which was incredibly tender and tasty along... More

Came across this amazing restaurant in the middle of nowhere by accident and stopped for lunch. What a surprise! a restaurant with history, great atmosphere and extremely good value for money. Mixed salad for two (one of the nicest we have had) Fresh Cod with a tomato sauce (delicious) two glass of (seriously nice) red house wine, coffee and complimentary... More

Very typical Spanish hostelry, fascinating history, great atmosphere, food beautiful and not too expensive considering the marvellous venue and decor, well worth a visit.

This is a personal favourite of mine and I've been coming here every year for a great many years. The location of this venta (the English equivalent to a large coaching inn) is special. The surrounding countryside is worth the drive alone. Stunning scenery from every direction. The venta itself is tremendously atmospheric, serving as a makeshift bandit museum. There... More

Said to be oldest inn in Andalucía and has a museum. Food great for meat eaters and good value with excellent portions. Good simple local type eating.

Said to be the oldest inn in Andaluzia, it has operated since 1699. Once used by felons and brigands there is quite a history. Surounded by open country a little way out of the village, it is an attractive old building. Inside more like an olde English inn with dark furniture and a beamed ceiling. We both ordered 'huevos a... More

What a fascinating place! If you read up some of the history, you find that this was the ancient Malaga to Granada route much beloved by tradesmen, smugglers and so on. The inside of this venta reflects the history and well worth looking around. Sadly, our food was awful. Top of of the list were the soggiest mushrooms ever encountered,... More

On the old road to Granada. Try this pitoresque route and visit probably the oldest venta in Andalucia. The menu is based on Real Spanish mountain Food and is reasonable priced.
