A group of 6 of us had a most enjoyable evening at The Templars Retreat. The food was excellent and very good value - Prawn Cocktail with a large amount of prawns and very tasty Roast Turkey with all the trimmings and lots of vegetables. A big plus for me was that there seemed to be a never ending supply... More

1.30 sat 15th went to get a pint and a snack while waiting for a train. It was shut no sign of anyone don't bother. Ghost town not even a paper shop nor anywhere to get a cup of tea. Avoid at all costs

As other reviewers have said, what a shame. This is the only pub in Templecombe and should be a vibrant heart of the village. As I walked in, I was greeted by the person behind the bar with indifference. I ordered a panini and a pint of beer. The panini was served with oily chips and the beer was flat... More

At the time of our visit the pub was looking for a new owner and it was clearly going through a period of change. It is the only pub in the village and therefore it should be a great venue and with a new owner this hopefully will be the case.

We entered the bar and disturbed a portly chap reading his paper behind the Bar, Being new to the area we where looking for a new local. However the Host/Landlord is not the most friendly and we appeared to be putting him out when we asked for Food as well as a drink as he had to turn the fryers... More

This is a village I visit regularly but the pub over the last decade has changed hands on numerous occasions and it was a case of you never really knew what to expect BUT the current owner has been in place for a couple of years now and it's not only the name of the place that has changed so... If you're going racing at Wincanton as we were , this is handy for the station. If you want food, make sure it's not a Fruday as they have a quiz and are not inclined to provide any sort of food unless you take part in the quiz. The rather sloth like landlord is more interested in being quizmaster than... More

This experience was one of my families most shocking dinner experiences of all time. My elderly grandmother who is used to good service witnessed a drunk man run from inside the pub only to vomit on the veranda. I didn't have the heart to mention that I witnessed another man being sick into a urinal in the toilet. We won't... More
