This restaurant opened a short while ago in premises previously occupied by another restaurant that closed down, so we decided to try it for lunch. Not many internal changes but it has been brightened up inside and is basically a cafe, bar, brasserie and restaurant...- very typical of the region - serving basic food. There is a fixed price (€14-50) 5 course set lunch (no choices). There is also a reasonably-priced a la carte menu and the restaurant is open Mon to Sat at mid-day and on Friday and Saturday evenings. As we were there at lunchtime we had the set menu. The starter soup course was a delicious butternut squash veloute served with crispy breadsticks. This was followed by the entree course, which was a salade composee, consisting of shredded lettuce, chopped tomatoes, and shredded confit de canard (a local speciality), with a delicious balsamic vinaigtrette dressing. Very crisp and tasty. The main course was a large Faux Filet steak, beautifully grilled and served with what appeared to be home-made French fries. really very good indeed, and a lettuce garnish. Apparently this is the standard main cause on a Friday lunchtime, with other dishes during the week. Following thgis was trhe cheese course, which we were offered but declined, already feeling very full. However, did take the dessert course, which was home-made Pannacotta topped with a red fruit coulis. Scrumptious. So, fairly plain fare but extremely delicious and very satisfying at all levels. Service was efficient and with a smile. There are very few places that do better for the price. We wish the owners bonne chance and hope that they will be there for a long time to come. We shall return, and recommend that you try it, too.More
