The welcome and atmosphere of Grunters lets you see past the the plain decor. I ate here, with my wife, and had enjoyable meals and conversations with owner, staff and other customers. It is a place that makes you feel welcome and produce really good food.

We went to Grunters twice when visiting nearby Addo Park. We thought we got good pub grub at a very reasonable price. Surprisingly big menu and generous portions. Staff we found also to be chatty and friendly . The venue is tucked away in Colchester but you would do well to make the effort to find it.

A basic neighbourhood bar with food. Not a lot of choice in the area but our food was OK. The young man that looked after us was friendly and service was good

The food and atmosphere was lovely after a big day out. TV on for the Rugby when we arrived created a great atmosphere. The menu was a bit of everything, veg,soup,pizzas, chicken, steaks, toasties, burgers, curry. Our party of 3 adults enjoyed the meal and we went back the next night aswell. We highly recommend Patrick and his staff if you want good food and great service.

Worst food we’ve ever ordered ... Regina Pizza for R79 in the photo says it all. The pasta’s tasted like they were frozen meals that were warmed up in a microwave. They got two of the orders wrong ... we ordered ‘take aways’ and it was late in the evening. Didn’t feel like going back to complain. The owner (I assume) had a bit of an attitude too ...
Would not recommend this restaurant to anybody.

If you want excellent home cooked food with a very friendly owner & to chat with the local community then this is the place for you. We’ve eaten here every night on our last 2 visits to Colchester & believe me it doesn’t disappoint. We will definitely return. Thank you Patrick

Well the menu showed promise but unfortunately the food didnt deliver. I had liver onions and mash and my husband the chicken schnitzel and cheese sauce which was all either pack or frozen. Very disappointing all around.

We stayed over close to the pub reroute to Durban and grabbed a takeaway after a long day... what a complete disappointment.
Orders incorrect and calamari was literally inedible.
Spent the next day on the road with a physically sick family.
Manager/owner was rude and not welcoming at all.

Had steak one night and ribs the next. Food was great and the host was extremely kind and helpful. They even stayed open for us on a sunday evening. Would definitely recommend for the food alone. Quite dark and dingey but once you look past that it's great.

The food was awful. I've never had such bad chips. They were lousy and the rest was bad too. The meat was gristly. Unfortunately, the restaurant was recommended to us by our accommodation. We played a round of pool. Another point for that. But please don't go there for the food. Only suitable as a pub. Maybe the chef was ill. The chips look OK in the other pictures.

Great place to lunch after long morning drive in Addo.
Lovely friendly service. The owner, I shall assume his name is Gunter was very friendly and outgoing.

What a gem!!! Not even loadshedding could stop us from watching Formula 1 in Malgas!! And the friendly ownner and his staff stayed open specially so that we also could enjoy excellent food

Good food served by a very friendly owner / manager who makes you feel welcome and is happy to make changes to suit individual needs.
We went several times during the week because we were staying nearby and due to the varied menu we never got tired of going there.
