Friendly and intimate atmosphere, perfect service. Large wine list with reasonably priced wines. Meat (pigeon, lamb) absolutely to the point, taste of everything well balanced. Nice interim courses (pre and apres desert, fe). Sweets very creative and excellent. Strong recommendation!

The loveliest meal I had in Ferrara. I ordered the 5 course fish based tasting menu and very dish was creatively executed, delicate in flavor and beautiful in presentation. The service was attentive and very friendly, and since there are only 6 tables in the restaurant I was treated like a queen. Should be in the top five restaurants of... More

I am surprised that this restaurant is not higher up in the rankings on trip advisor. In fact I think it is among the best in Ferrara. Located in a beautiful court in front of the castle, with a nice atmosphere and great innovative food. It is a small place where one gets all the attention of the maitre d'.... More

Food excellent, very well served in this very tiny restaurant (only few tables in winter). Excellent fish, very tasty ravioli, perfect desserts. The only drawback is the bill, well beyond the expectations. Seventy euros for few flutes of "prosecco" is definitely too much.

In late September, 2015, we stayed three nights in Ferrara a block from this restaurant, during our tour of cities of Emilia Romagna and the Veneto outside Venice. We ate at Il Don Giovanni our first night in its main dining room and, on our third night in its Bistro Cafe. The menus in both rooms were creative and excellently... More

Being first-timers in Italy, this restaurant was our first experience in using a guidebook to direct us to a local restaurant. (We did not have a reservation.) The guidebook said that the restaurant was open from 5PM on, which we thought somewhat odd, even having been in Italy for only four days, but whatever -- the guidebook must be right.... More

I've been using this restaurant for my most esteemed guests for as long as it's been here. Never failed to impress any of them, most of whom volunteered a "best dinner I ever had" vote at the end of the meal, a worthy statement given how they're all most seasoned travellers of worldwide experience. Be prepared for the unexpected, though:... More

Very pleasant meal, with pleasant service. Probably expected slightly more to be honest, as the stop in Ferrara was built around a visit to this Michelin starred restaurant. Had worse meals, but also had much better..

Sunday lunch saw us here. Very pleasant waitress who helped in an unassuming way. A most imaginative menu.....and very comprehensive wine list. Original flavours created the use of fresh local produce. Not cheap...count on 70-80 euro a person.

Extremely centrally located off the main central side 'The Castle Estense', in a covered courtyard, smallish, about 6 tables. For sure a welcoming surprise find in Ferrara. Connochies as appetizers were a true delight for us. Steamed baby squids good yet something missing. Unfortunately the highly recommended Duck-dish (lovingly prepared) missed that special taste. The turbot, good, yet not special. Suggestion... More

The intimacy of a small room with just six tables with views of the kitchen, you will enjoy a dining experience in an exclusive atmosphere. Don Giovanni bases its origins on over 25 years of experience in the restaurant business Italian and international Chef Pier Luigi Di Diego and the daily and careful research of raw materials of the season and first quality. Our garden of 1.2 hectare, diversified from May to October, is located at Marrara near the former headquarters of the restaurant and allow us to use fresh raw materials that are processed in the kitchen with great respect for tradition, without excluding modern techniques cooking and processing of food, paying close attention to nutritional aspects. Every day by our pastry, fresh bread is prepared with different qualities of flour. Our wine cellar, made in the former bank vault that was here before the seat, offers a careful selection of wines with more than 600 national and international labels. Our philosophy of life, prompted us to choose most of the wines produced from sustainable agriculture (organic, biodynamic, etc.). The opportunity of a proposal for a tasting by the glass in combination with the food is the opportunity to taste wines that respect the originality of the terroir, ie the taste of a particular place. To advise in the room Laura Gentleman, wife of the chef, their synergy, dining and kitchen, take you to your gastronomic journey as an indispensable ingredient of a recipe meditated.
