Try to book a table on the terrace. Follonica restaurants are generally ordinary but Il Sottomarino stands out with inventive, but not precious, cuisine and an excellent and very reasonably priced wine list for some excellent whit wine
Worth spending a few extras Euros getting beautifully presented and tasting food. Friendly, helpful staff further enhance the experience. Not sure why it is rated as expensive, probably because of their extensive wine list. But definitely worth it.
Unusual for Follonica which is not great for restaurants. Three of us, two tuna tartars, one pasta with squid and pistachio, one frito misto, two mixed grilled fish coffe and half a bottle of Morris Farms Vermentino at a very reasonable 99 euros.

During a semi business trip we were invited to this restaurant by our hosts and a good story about the former sottomarino. All we got was overpriced food that looked more in place in a snack bar. Wont go back here.
