After trying several restaurants in Marciana Marina, all very expensive and nothing special, we went up to Poggio, 5 kilometers upstream. Wonderful place surrounded by woods with a view towards the sea and an almost intact urban structure, with narrow streets and stairways full of flowers, very romantic. In the evening the beautiful square overlooking the sea comes alive with life. Here is the Sciamadda restaurant, with small outdoor tables under a pergola. If you haven't booked, there's no point in going there, because in summer it's always very popular. Thanks to the excellent dishes at honest prices. We have been back several times but we would have liked to have dinner here every evening, unfortunately there is not always room available. Savory pies as a starter are good, even if the portions are small. Spaghetti with special anchovies, also rigatoni with fish sauce, in this case the quantity was just right. Fish second courses equally tasty and well prepared. There are no side dishes on the menu but I asked for a mixed salad and they brought a nice dish. Excellent homemade desserts. Honestly we ate better, but much better, here than in the Michelin recommended restaurant in Marciana Marina. Furnishings with recycled furniture, such as cabinets once used for sewing machines. Fast and attentive service. Go there and you will be satisfied. Warning: in Poggio it is a little difficult to find parking.

I would start by talking about the availability of the owner, who is also the chef, who has freed up a place for two even though we had not booked. The dishes were phenomenal, one better than the other. We had rigatoni with mackerel, squid soup and a cod in green with potatoes really amazing. The thing that struck us the most was the relaxed atmosphere that made us enjoy the time between courses, and then the passion for titooare, which guided us in choosing desserts like a tailor in choosing the dress, something much appreciated considering that the chocolate cake wins the Award of the evening. Highly recommended, we will be back.

Found by chance after visiting Marciana, very beautiful, and on the way down we also stopped to visit Poggio, similar to Marciana but much smaller, arriving at a square with three or four restaurants, we opted for this one, both for the prices lower than the others of a few euros, both for the rustic and informal atmosphere of an old trattoria. I think it's a good choice, as it doesn't have any comparison with the others. Quick service, very good dishes. I advise

We went to this very characteristic place in the center of Poggio after reading the recent very positive reviews. We had two first courses, two second courses and two glasses of white wine. The former weren't too bad, the latter were totally inadequate. A fried cod and anchovies with 4 anchovies and 3 pieces of cod which had no flavor and had just come out of the freezer. White wine is acidic and unusable. The worst thing, however, was the service, the waiters were listless and not very courteous, one even threw the bag of bread at us. In short, it will also have slightly lower prices (70 euros), but definitely overvalued and not worth it

The fourth evening of our holiday also took us to a new restaurant. This time we had chosen Sciamadda. The journey there, through the mountains past Monte Perone, was a bit of an adventure. Very winding, very narrow, exciting. Sciamadda describes itself as a Ligurian restaurant and is beautifully situated in the mountain village of Poggio. A short walk through the narrow streets is definitely worth it. We were warmly welcomed and were immediately impressed by the uniform outfits of the male waiters. As expected, it was mainly locals who were eating here, which always creates an authentic holiday feeling. Before we ordered, we were given explanations of all the dishes on the menu in a mixture of Italian, English and a bit of German. Shortly after ordering, we were given a "greeting from the kitchen" to get us in the mood. We ordered a lot of fish and were very satisfied with the taste. For my taste, the portion could have been a bit bigger. Conclusion: delicious food, super friendly service and at €83 it was actually relatively cheap. A beautiful evening that will be remembered.

Ligurian-inspired restaurant in the pretty town of Poggio.
The best tried on the island of Elba.
As an appetizer, perfect breaded and fried anchovies (12 euros), 1 squid soup in zimino (12 euros).
Then as first courses spaghetti with fresh anchovies, capers, pine nuts and Taggiasca olives (12 euros), homemade lean ravioli with a touch of Genoese meat (14 euros), also delicious.
1 baked pear (4 euros), 1 digestive. 1 water, 1 rosé with nero d'avola (12 euros).
Total price 80 euros, really excellent value for money considering the island (a little expensive).
The only flaw is the position of the tables, really close to 2 others, but from what I understand they had a crowding problem the evening we were there.

Located in Poggio, a beautiful village as the name suggests site high up as a balcony overlooking the sea, I had dinner in this small restaurant with outdoor tables and a few stations even inside. Recommended by friends, I enjoyed simple dishes but really well cooked and, to be on Elba, really affordable as prices. The footprint is Ligurian with openings to the sea and the territory: delicious testaroli with pesto, pasta with anchovies and cod.

I noticed this nice trattoria a few days ago while visiting the delightful village of Poggio and I booked for mid-August. The managers suggested that we arrive a little early to find a seat outside in the town square and so it was. The managers were very helpful in explaining the menu which was Ligurian and Elban, with a variety of traditional dishes. We had a superlative pasta with fresh anchovies, capers and Taggiasca olives and homemade testaroli with pesto, followed by breaded and fried anchovies and zimino of squid and chard, then panna cotta with peach purée and crushed briaca all made by them!! Everything perfect, location, quick service and also the quality/price ratio

Local with scattered tables, free-range and genuine. The location in the village of Poggio really beautiful, but here is the master of excellent cuisine, with ingredients and combinations of tradition but with remarkable inventions in a Tuscan-Ligurian hybrid. Really remarkable zimini (stewed preparations with chickpeas or squid), testaroli (typical Lunigiana pasta) or various meat preparations. A must-visit place to escape from an excessively expensive and internationalized restaurant on the Elbe coast in search of a refined and passionate cuisine

Of course it took us to Poggio and of course we had to visit the restaurant pictured there. And we weren't disappointed. A fantastic view and very friendly staff. The trattoria was very well attended and we had the impression that tourists but also many different islanders like to visit the location.
A highlight at the beginning was that of ours. vegetarians the dishes appropriate for them have been explained. Also the card is very appealing and not taken off.
Many different Ligurian/traditional dishes.
And everything freshly prepared. Very delicious was the pasta but also the pesto or the wild boar. And the stew terrifically seasoned.
Clear Recommendation! And thanks for a nice lunch.
P.S. The toilet is very nostalgic and clean.

The feeling is to enter in a traditional trattoria of the 70s, with colorful walls full of prints of advertisements of historical Italian products/brands. The food is inspired to the Ligurian tradition with fresh ingredients and very tasteful. I love to come back to this place for a truly traditional quality dinner i can’t resist Testaroli with pesto, or the great cheek peas soup. Baccalà is cooked in different traditional ways, and panzanella is also soo good. Simple choices on wine - house wine or beer and great desserts we tried chocolate cake, schiaccia - traditional from the island- and pears cooked in wine with wine reduction. Finally the view from Poggio is fantastic, great if you can get a table outside

Located in the beautiful village of Poggio, a hamlet of Marciana, in the hinterland of Elba. We were there twice during our holiday in Sant’Andrea and this already suggests that we enjoyed it.
Nice terrace with a few tables and views of the village square. The paper placemat partly describes the various dishes. Rich menu with Ligurian and Elba cuisine. We tried different dishes. Exquisite spaghetti with fresh anchovies, olives, capers, pine nuts, raisins, as well as grilled sardines salad. Excellent soup of squid in zimino and Fried mixed anchovies and cod. In the norm the chocolate cake of the house.
Relaxing atmosphere.
Waiter and owner friendly and patient.
A little long service times. Prices below the average of the place.
Paid parking until 20 hours along the road.

The Sciamadda trattoria smells of home, good food, dedication and embodies a concept, a project, more unique than rare, of adherence to the tradition and lost gastronomic culture of the generations that preceded us.
As per tradition, it is a trattoria with simple tables leaning against the walls, unequal chairs yet perfectly coordinated with the context of colors, antique objects, excerpts of old newspapers and vintage advertising posters.
The menu is all to be discovered, especially because it contains real goodies (cuttlefish and pea burrida, hand-pulled rigatoni) almost impossible to find elsewhere.
Raw materials are carefully selected, even a simple panzanella with tuna becomes an explosion of taste.
The dishes taste of yesteryear, perfect, a real treat for the palate.
Good wine list, to keep in mind the excellent rosé of the house.
Exceptional service: helpfulness, courtesy, sympathy and grace all gathered in these wonderful people.
Competitive account, absolutely excellent value for money.
It is not just a Recommendation, to go there for dinner or lunch if you are in the area... It's an obligation!
Spectacular.

After years of not coming back it was a confirmation. Fantastic no-frills cuisine, cute and cozy place. My wife and I ate some great fish appetizers. As did the first. Particular praise to the frying is mixed but I recommend you also take the cod and especially the fried anchovies that are spacey! Attentive and kind service, fair prices.

In the square of Poggio is the privileged place from which to observe the typical flow of Elba evenings, those of my childhood. On the steps where this trattoria is born, unique in its kind on Elba, you can enjoy one of the most authentic and cool evenings of the summer! The menu is extensive and has proposals both sea and land or vegetarian / vegan. The taste is unique: the aromas, the combinations and the skilful use of aromatic herbs and unusual proposals are to be rewarded. Do not miss the fresh spaghetti with anchovy or stuffed sardines! Friendly staff and fast food despite all the various tables spread were full. Inside, the restaurant with a “vintage” flavor confirms a flair and a refinement of detail that defines its vocation even more. Very honest spending in two we spent less than € 60... really more than deserved! Continuate così!
