The food was cold and very rude people. Avoid that place. You will wait 45 minutes before getting your food. They are overwhelmed and not organized.

The wait staff was incredibly friendly and attentive and we were were really excited to eat here. However the food was mediocre — the polenta was cooked well but lacked flavor, the fish was way too salty, and the pork shin was kind of dry....It’s unfortunate because its in a lovely spot and the staff is just so nice!More
Highly recommend - especially if you want a change from pasta and pizza (e.g. Rabbit, Pork shins). Staff were incredibly friendly and helpful. You'll need to book :-)
We always like to stroll away from the crowd and found this gem on a short “alley” end cap. Menu was on chalkboard. Two pastas. One with Gorgonzola ravioli and the other with a red sauce, tomato, olive and baby octopi. We ordered both pastas...to share. Bread service is offered at no added charge. Ambience is “perfectly authentic Italian”. Servers were all genuinely kind, bubbly, gracious and fantastic. I will remember the tasty meal served in such a cozy environment by such beautiful humans.More
Excellent food and very friendly hosts - we ate there twice and could not fault the food and wine. Recommend to book as it is very popular.
Great food, good wine, friendly staff—all within steps of Lake Como. Outdoor patio or inside dining, right in the center.
Expensive and not we were not lucky with our food, service ok. A busy place that closes in the afternoon
This is a good restaurant - and I am sure that the fact it was full is testimony to its popularity - it was a very rainy day so one of the few to remain open. However the choice of food was not great, and...the ham/cheese starter plate to share was certainly nothing to shout about. All three of us chose the ravioli - just didn’t see anything else we liked.More
We dropped in for lunch on their patio. Service is exuberant and friendly. Maccheroni is good as is the rabbit. Pleasant place just off the main square.
Amazing pasta and pork with polenta and I can recommend the grilled cheese antipasti. The staff were very friendly and serviceminded.
This was the only restaurant in Menaggio that greeted us with a smile, was happy to seat us. The food was excellent and I definitely recommend it. Please stop by and support this excellent Osteria.
I never seen something like that. We were sitting in front of the entrance and we have seen how badly they treated the people watting for a table. They were making all kind of excuses when they simple did not want to take a client:...That they are fulltime booked (when we saw a few tables FREE) that they do not have room for them (giving a minute later the table to somebody else). The true is that we did not manage to understand the logic behind. if I have known how they treat people I would never had eaten in this place. Furthermore the food was not so good as to queue to get a table. I surely will not recomend this place to anyone. Avoid the place!!!!More
First off the good parts: It’s a nice spot and they have plenty of seating inside and outside. The staff were incredibly friendly and enthusiastic. The house wine is very cheap and surprisingly nice! Now for the bad : We started with Thea primi plati...of the pasta, we ordered one of each of the 2 types - a ravioli with ricotta and aubergine + tomato; and a cavatelli pesto pasta. Both the dishes were acceptable but in my opinion (as an Italian food lover and home pasta maker), very average and lacked the true Italian flavour and flair. The pasta itself seemed to be decent quality, but it seems the sauces were made by someone who was not putting in any effort, nor following typical Italian procedures. I would also say that the addition of a raw carrot flower and a leaf of dry cabbage added absolutely nothing, and is a completely useless garnish. I also thought it was somewhat shameful to use packet shredded Parmesan on the ravioli, I would expect that in a primary school, but in Italy? Come on... Next came the second course... Oh dear... where do I start... We both ordered the local sundried salt cured fish as we wanted to taste something from the lake. Once again the plate was garnished with a dry carrot flower and a dry cabbage leaf. There were 3 of these fish alongside a serving of polenta. I am a fan of salty fish - the likes of kippers etc. However these fish were unbearably salty and even lacked the taste of the fish due to the sheer amount of salt. Probably due to this, the polenta had absolutely no seasoning and was completely bland, which is understandable due to the fish saltiness, however I would expect it to at least be cooked with some butter and cheese - it was clearly without either. I tried to eat as much as I could however after one of the three fish it became too much. All in all, if you are looking for REAL Italian food in Menaggio, do not eat here. It is somewhat reasonably priced but if any of the other dishes are as bad as the salt fish, it is not worth it. Saying this, the staff are doing an amazing job and clearly keeping customers somewhat happy.More
We ordered the insalata mista, which was a salad of extremely bitter (perhaps turning) cabbage and tomatoes. I had the Branzino which was bland in flavor and smothered in a tasteless pomodoro sauce (hint to the chef: keep it simple and stick to a lemon...butter caper sauce to highlight the delicate flavor of the branzino.) Full of bones. Only the caponata was palatable. My husband ordered the "wine braised" beed dish. Listen, I cook and have spent hours of my life creating meals, so I know what I'm talking about... the meat was like rubber government meat with no flavor, also smothered in a bland pomodoro, and the polenta also looked like rubber. I don't know how this place has so many great reviews, but spend your money elsewhere.More
Well, here we are again at Osteria il Pozzo, 7 years since our last visit to Menaggio, Lake Como. It retains its rustic charm, friendly family welcome and delicious traditional Italian cuisine. Hope it won’t be 7 years before we come back to Menaggio
